LED lights on the Frame question!

Hi, new member here. I've been reading about all the LED mods people are doing here on their campers. I'm thinking about putting some on the underside of my 1006 and was wondering if I could just run the LED strip in some clear tubing for added protection but didn't know if the LED's put off too much heat and might melt the tubing? The LED strip I have coming is supposedly waterproof but was thinking the clear tubing would be added protection. What say you
Thanks, Dave

LEDs produce negligible heat, compared to other lighting solutions.( I suppose a jar full of fireflies would produce less heat, but that is hard to mount on your rig.)

That being said, why not do this:
Test it before you mount it? See how hot it gets?
Also, is the tube 100% closed? If it has air vents on each side, there shouldn't be a problem.

No vents? Drill a few small holes in the tube before mounting.

Open ends on tubing

Thanks for the reply Tim. I thought about doing a test run like you suggested. I just thought the clear tube would help protect the lights from rocks and road grim while towing plus I could just make a few holders to mount it as the tubing is fairly stiff. Thank you.

I did my frame to see under my RV or if I need light around my RV, this worked great. I went to Wall-Mart n got LED string light for Truck beds. They are weather ready plus you just peel n stick . I did modify mine a bit to space the light. they n bright. You can also use them for many thing too. 12volts

If I was using the peel and stick variety I would reinforce it with some clear silicon caulk...make sure it stuck on.

I ordered the waterproof sections off amazon and used goralla superglue to hold them up. I now just need to install a switch so I can turn off the upper orange light

Thanks

Thanks for the replys guys. I got the project done Wednesday. I just ended up using a good quality double sticky tape and ran the lights on the underside of my frame. I rigged it up where I could either use the 12 volt battery or the 110 outlet on my camper. I need to take a couple of pictures of the power set up for both options.
