Leveling Blocks, Wheel Chocks and other stuff...

What do you do when your wife and kids are gone visiting family for 12 days and you have some extra wood in the shed? If you have a camping vehicle you get busy making stuff!

First on my list were some jack-pads. These are unique in that they will provide a level surface even if the trailer is parked on a slant.

Next I made stablizer chocks. If you don't have a set they make a huge difference in preventing forward/backward movement.

I made leveling blocks from a 2X8 that can stack one, two or three high (some of the places we camp are not very flat).

Last I made a step for the entrance. The lowest fold-out step on my trailer is a little high. As you can see it also doubles as a carry-all for the other items.

The total cost to build all of this was $13.47. I only had to purchase the 4X4 block, the 2X8 board and the threaded rod. Everything else I had in my shed. Now I just need to go camping to test out all my gadgets!

Happy camping!

Sweet idea using the step as a carrying case for the items!

Great ideas! I've been thinking of making some wheel chocks with the threaded rod myself....way cheaper than buying. And I love the idea of making things do double duty...step/carrying case.

Thanks, Soulman! Yes the wheel chocks are REALLY CHEAP and easy!

One 8' 4X4 = $8.75
Four 24" long 3/8" threaded rods = $4.96
Twenty 3/8" nuts = $3.20
Sixteen 3/8" fender washers = $1.12

Total cost = $18.03 and that was to make two (I'm a great brother and made one for my sister and brother-in-law's trailer)

The double duty step is my favorite part too! I am always looking for dual purpose items! My wife calls me her "Gadget Guy".
