Locks and more locks....

Reading on these forums experiences others have had.....decided it might be wise to lock down some things before hitting the road....completed today a few add-ons....locked the propane tanks on....formed locking straps for the batteries and locked them on....also, added a battery disconnect switch while into the batteries....changed out storage compartments locks to get away from the universal 751 that everyone seems to have.....getting close to pulling off the driveway.

We felt the same.....mission accomplished last season.

I'm down to three keys....one that locks all my TT doors and storage....one that unlocks the battery and propane tank padlocks....and one that unlocks all the hitch gear

At least the thief will have to work a little harder now.

Thanks for posting a link to your thread. I plan to change the locks on our new trailer but hadn't found a place to buy from yet.

This is the same website I used and was very satisfied...even had to return one that I got wrong on original order and had no problems.

I hope you are all as pleased as I am.

After 2 years - my original 751 cargo lock with pot metal cylinder body had already corroded to the locking nut. The RVLocks cylinders and hardware are all plated with stainless nose hardware....a quality difference you will notice.

Thanks to all the locks posts, I ordered my new compartment locks and door lock last week from RVlocks also, all keyed alike. Per you guys and what I have read, they look like a quality product. Hope to get them in a few days and installed. Also drilling a hole or two this weekend to lock the 2-30lb. propane tanks in place. What's the best way to lock in the two batteries? And having zero electrical skills, so how do I hook up a battery disconnect and what's the best one to use? Right now the rig has two battery boxes installed by CW.

I've posted pics of my locking of propane tanks, locking device I made for batteries, and disconnect switch I installed on the battery box.....

1) Simply drilled a hole through the wing nut and holddown bar on the propane tanks.....placed lock through hole...can't turn wing nut.
2) Bought a 1/8" X 1 1/2" X 8 ft. flat aluminum from Home Depot...bent and formed it around battery box...I did use a 1 1/2" hinge in one corner to make it easier to put on and take off...realize I'm only keeping out the not so good thief but maybe it'll turn them away because they'll have to do some work to get to them.
3) Bought the disconnect switch from Advanced Auto for $13...cut a hole in top of battery box for mounting with screws....spliced into my positive side...I know there's pros and cons on which to use....positive??? or negative????...used positive because I don't like the idea of it still being connected if you shut off on the negative side when you could accidentally ground the system by mistake when working on 12V system.

Great job! Thanks for the pics, they really help. That's exactly what I needed. I'm off to get these mods done this weekend. Will also be installing the new keyed alike locks I just received from RVLocks. They look well made and the price was right with the new security door set-up.
RV there yet?

I am very interested but does anyone know if these will work if you have keyless entry? My key pad is half way down the door.

Jtown, that is a great idea for locking the batteries. If I still have batteries I will do that when we return to Az.
