Mattress Purgatory

We just tried out our new Whitehawk with the Murfy Bed. The mattress was as hard as a rock on both of our hips (side sleepers). We tried a 2.5 inch memory foam topper and found that the problem persists. Can anyone give me some information on short queen mattresses that we can purchase on the internet sight unseen that may let use actually get a good nights sleep? We are limited to approximately 9 inches of thickness because of the folding bed slot. By the way, everything else on the trailer worked really well!

When I had a short queen in an RV I purchased a good memory foam mattress from Costco and just cut it to suit. It was by far the best cost and comfort I could find when looking for a non-standard size mattress.

Just make sure it's not one of the ones with the multiple layers of foam inside a fabric casing unless you're good at sewing. The one I got was exposed foam, so it was easy.

We literally just bought one of these for our Jay Feather 23RLSW. It's rated at 10" thick. I've tested it briefly, and found it firm enough to be comfortable, and supportive enough for me as a side sleeper. Note the short queen size. I doubt that it would take folding - does the Murphy bed actually fold the mattress? From the pictures I can find, it does not.

I like the price, too. Amazon Prime with free shipping made this at least LOOK like a good deal.

Brentwood home makes nice memory gel mattresses. I have 2 of the 11" full queen versions that are excellent. They make a 9" short queen. 25 year warranty.

Check them out here. You can also order direct from Brentwood. Good Luck!

Quality short queen mattress's are crazy expensive. I've ordered a standard "full" size replacement from "Custom Comfort" in Mission Viejo, CA.. the full is 6" narrower but the same length as the short queen. Works for me but I'm flying solo, not sure if that would work for a couple...
