Mods planned for this season
I'm sure I'm not the only one who is languishing and longing to get my Jayco out of storage. Last time I looked, there was still about 3' of snow on the road going in & out of the main gate at the fair grounds where our camper is stored. I'm hoping to get it home by the 1st weekend in May, but the rate of snow melt will determine that.
In the meantime, I have little I can do but ponder and plan things I want to do to our 2013 Eagle 284 BHS to make it better.
So far my list includes:
1-Dropping the under belly and inspecting both water tanks for soundness of installation and mounting. I've heard of too many tanks dropping down for lack of proper installation or due to sheetmetal screws instead of bolts.
2- Look at the do-ability of re-rigging the supply plumbing from the water tanks to water pump. As is, because of the self equalizing manner of the water level between the two tanks, if one starts leaking, both will drain. I'd also like to have a valve that will allow the water pump to draw from one tank at a time and the source tank to be selectable.
3- Adding angled stabilizing bars added to the stab jacks. I'm hoping to reduce the shaking of the trailer when people move around inside.
4- Battery shutoff switch. Prevents draining of battery when it isn't necessary to have things plugged in & on, usually while parked at home between camping trips.
5-Level the TV antenna. I obtained some Winegard mounting wedges that should allow me to remount and level the antenna. The roof is sloped where the antenna is mounted, so the antenna is sloped when raised. It looks really stupid as is, like the antenna is bent.
6- Better outside speakers.
7- Mor Ryde greaseable wet bolt kit for suspension.
8- Improve the mounting of the ladder. Change stand-off mount brackets from 2 screw type to a 4 screw style and add 1 more pair of standoffs for additional support. (I've already got a wall schematic and know where the internal wood backers are inside the wall for attaching another pair of standoffs.)
9- Better stowage for sewer hose and fittings.
10- Tire covers to protect tires from UV damage while parked here at home.
That's about all I have for now. I'll probably think of a few more over the next couple of weeks.
