Mounting solar charge controller - 25RKS

Hi all. I have decided to add solar to my TT for this summer. I am looking for some advice on where/how to mount the electronics. I have a 2010 25RKS. I want to put everything (charge controller, disconnect, fuses, small inverter) in the front pass-through storage compartment to be close to the batteries. I figured I would mount everything to a piece of 3/8 plywood and do whatever wiring I can, then mount the whole thing inside the compartment and connect to batteries, etc. Here's my question: I could put everything on the side of the compartment that shares a bulkhead with the under-bed storage (nice little vertical wall, visible supports, etc), or I could mount it on the inside of the trailer front wall (angled wall, covered like an interior wall, behind the diamond plate). I would like to go the second route to get as close to the batteries as possible, but I'm not sure what is between that wall and the outer skin/diamond plate, don't know what I have to mount to. Haven't looked around with a stud finder or anything. Anyone have any experience or advice on this?

Hi Wayne,
I have a 250 watt solar panel mounted on the roof of the TT, and mounted a 60 amp MPPT Solar Charge Controller in the front storage compartment (short run to the batteries) on the wall behind the front Cap. I also mounted my Inverter on the same wall. You can see my set up by clicking on the solar link below.

I am rethinking my original setup and now I am planning on mounting the MPPT solar charge controller, the inverter and disconnects on a piece of 1/2 “ plywood that would be hinged and mounted to the front wall. The hinge would be right by the opening of the storage area, all the cables would come up through the floor and attach to the hinged board, right by the hinge, allowing enough slack to be able to swing the board away from the wall, giving me a clear access to solar and inverter and its wiring. Always room for improvement….

I did exactly what your talking about.. Mounted everything on the forward bulkhead. Using a hole saw I ran the cables down through the floor then sealed the hole with spray foam insulation and sealed that with spray on bedliner (from an aerosol can). This has worked well for the last 3 years..
