New Sewer Hose Storage Tube

Purchased a new, longer sewer hose a few months back but it's just a tad to big (OD of connectors) to slid into 4" square tube bumper without possibly getting stuck......, so had to come up with something else.

Went with a (1) 5" x 5" x 8ft.lg. PVC fence post, (2) 4" wide square bend U-bolts (bent to fit), steel strap, and some fastners....., along with a little gloss black paint over the white PVC finished it off:

The Eagle sits pretty high so I have plenty of ground clearance, and I drilled a few clearance holes along the bottom of the PVC tube for drainage and venting. Do to the spare tire mounting hardware on the bumper I had to install two spacer blocks (have to paint them yet) between the bumper and PVC tube.

I was considering mounting near the TT sewer dump valve connection, but do to the low hung LP gas piping
and a few other issues, plus drilling thru the I-beam frame for mounting...., I went via the path of least resistance

Bob

Nice job! Several of us have done this mod. It makes it much easier to store the newer style sewer hoses and fittings.

I plan on doing the same - but I think I'll put it on top of the bumper. I go into some rough area's and have come close to dragging the bumper, much less the bumper -6 inches But that is me - I know many don't....

Anyway, sweet install, thanks for sharing!

That's what I would have liked to have done, but the bottom of my ladder was in the way.

Great idea! I wonder how that would work for transporting 4 ultralight fishing rod/reel combos? I could put 2 in from each end.

I did the same thing but kept mine white which matched the back of the trailer. I used two blocks of masonite to elevate it so it gets over the spare tire hold down bars. I like the way you painted yours black. Good choice.

I bought the stuff to do this mod last year and never did it. Now I have a new TT and need to find the time to complete it. I also wanted to mount on top of the bumper or under the trailer. I haven't thought about the ladder being in the way or the fact I step on the bumper to use the ladder, so I guess thats out of the question. I will still explore under near the dump valve or like you have done.

I did this mod as well to my 365BHS. I used 6" PVC and mounted it directly behind the Bigfoot leveling system's rear jacks. Works great... and is MUCH better than trying to stuff the hose in the bumper.

Install was simple... and it hasn't budged one bit since I put it on.

I installed one under the rig just in front of the bike carrier. It is easily accessible, holds my Rhino hose with the fittings and sewer adapter rig.

It has survived a hit from something kicked up on the road without any damage but a ding on one of the access doors.

I installed the vinyl fence post on the back bumper and I also installed the rest of the post on the tongue of the camper. I keep "outside" things in it. Pie irons, cooking forks, etc.

Visited both the local HD & Lowe's today looking for this post, no go. Found it online at HD, and phoned order to Pro Desk, it should be here next week. I think I'll mount it on tongue between battery box and front of trailer, looks like it will fit perfectly. Thanks, Bob, for starting this thread!

I haven't been able to find a place in Canada that sells the square fence post that's large enough to fit the RhinoFlex. Where can you get the large round tune? A plumbing store?

Thanks.

Yeah, I found my 5" PVC fence posts along the back wall of the local HD, no where near all the other fencing stuff.

What's nice about the 5" fence post is that you can also slide an 8ft.lg. plastic "open" gutter inside and place the sewer hose in it (easy removal), and the gutter can be used for pitching the sewer hose after making the connections.

One of these:

I have been putting that mod off for two years now. I have the PVC just need to do it. I want to mount it close to the sewer outlet.

Thanks for sharing your pics. I especially like the storage you added on the tongue. I think there's room on mine to do the same.

Thanks for sharing your idea Rustic Eagle. I like the idea of mounting under the bumper. As another poster noted, I also use the bumper to gain access to the ladder. And thanks also for describing the parts and mounting. I've yet to add a mod to my camper and like the details.

Well Bob.
I finally got my sewer mod done. Your post motivated me :-)

I ended up putting mine on the front A-frame between propane tank and front wall.

I drilled clearance holes and attached with self tapping screws into A-frame.

I put a lanyard and 3" push pin through the removable cap. I drilled the push pin at 45 degrees so it holds 2 sides and seems pretty stable.

I also drilled some drainage holes in the bottom.

The white 5" fence post matches the color of my TT so I didn't have to paint it.

Nice to have the hose and fittings out of the storage area.

Fence post $24, End caps 2@$3.49, small eye bolts 2ea and steel lanyard ~$3.00
