Plastic tub to real drawers upgrade

I wasn't thrilled with the cheesy plastic tubs that Jayco used as drawers on the 23B so I knew right away that I could do something better. It seemed that nothing would fit well in them because of the huge corner radii. The 3 drawers are made of 1/2" baltic birch plywood with 1/4" tempered hardboard bottoms (Masonite) and feature 20" full extension ball bearing slides. What fun I had fitting the perfectly square drawers into a cavity built to trailer house stapler quality standards To the person in Montana that was looking for a set of tubs, these may become available. My wife wants to hold them for a while to be sure they wouldn't come in handy somewhere else in the coach.

Although after you see how sweet these puppies turned out, you'll be making a set of your own!!

Nice looking, sturdy mod that looks like it increases the storage some just due to the shape of the new drawers. Great job!

Nice mod. Did you make the drawers?

Looks like a sturdy up-grade.

I almost thought Jayco didn't provide a cabinet door until I seen the witness marks for the hinges.

Yes, I made the drawer boxes myself. There is a door that covers the opening but for clarity I took the photos before I put it back on. The drawers use a simple interlocking joint that is easily machined on the table saw.

Thanks for the comments!

Mcfarm,
My 23B doesn't have anything like that. Where is that cabinet?

Nice job. The drawers look like they belong there.

On the right side of the oven below the rim of the left sink bowl. The door was off for the photo.
