Rear view camera ?

I just purchased a wired camera system from rear view safety. My question is how to mount the camera to the back of the fifth wheel. It is a heavy camera. How did you guys with that camera attach it to the back wall?

If you have a rear ladder you may be able to do the same thing I did. I made a shelf across the rear ladder supports and mounted the camera to that. I ran the power wires off of the rear running lights. Yes, you can still use that step.
I have a few pictures in my WiFi picture album. I installed 3/4" PVC along the frame and I use it to get my Camera and WiFi cat5 cables and a Romex 110VAC cable (inverter), from the rear of the TT to the front storage compartment. Keeps the cables out of the weather.

Saw someone use the suction cup mount for their GoPro and then connect via WiFi with the app on their smart phone. Prolly what I'll do since I have it.

Did your unit come pre wired from factory for a camera? If it did there is a backing board in the wall of camper.

Don't mean to hijack this thread, but what's the best camera setup? I'm leaning toward the Garmin RV760 LMT because I also like what I read about the features of the RV specific GPS. Love the color 7" screen for my old eyes ad the picture clarity seems to be good. It lists a 45' wireless range...it that really correct? I have a 27" TT so I guess the wireless should work.
What do you all think and what do you use? Is it worth the $320.00?

Just my two cents but I did a lot of research before buying a backup camera for my Trailer.

I wanted one to use going down the road as well as backing up.

I read where a lot of people were not satisfied with the wireless camera.

It would have been easier to install the wireless for sure! But I went with the wired one and I could not be happier with it.

This is the one I purchased and I would recommend it.

Curious... Where did you run your wires?

X2 on where did you run your wires?
Also, was the wireless troubles on the longer TTs and 5ers? I'm, only 27' so maybe the shorter signal distance would work well. Whatdaya think?

My Grandson helped me I mounted the camera right above the center light with the bracket resting on the light frame to help support the weight.

I drilled two holes thru back wall and TAPPED the holes for 1/4 thread (Engineer from work told me this was much stronger then regular screws)

I used silicone on threads and around bracket also.

Then I ran the wires straight up behind camera to trim on top carefully installed wire into channel and put trim back.

Then over to the side trim attached the connection for the TV wire it says it is waterproof connection. But I added heat shrink and same tape also. It is exposed only at the top corner and is not very noticeable.

Then into the trim molding going down the side and out the bottom and into the existing wire harness under the trailer to the front.

Had plenty of wire I took the extra wire and looped it in the Aluminum battery box and mounted the umbilical on the front of the box.

It really was easier then I thought it would be. I am extremely happy with it and the monitor supports three cameras also.

I also mounted a small camera on truck to see the ball works great just switch the view.

So your saying that roundish puffy plastic trim? Take it off and put the wires behind and snap the trim back in place?

Yes that's what I did it worked well had to cut small notch in it for the wire.

It seems there can be a lot of interference with the wireless ones from what I have read. The one I bought never flickers or loses picture going down the road.

If you decide to go wireless, do not purchase any product that does not have a 300' transmission signal. The unit also needs to have an external antenna, or your signal will probably not be very good. Forget the license plate cameras, a waste of hard earned dollars.

I just installed a Furrion FOS48TA-BL on my Starcraft Launch. The Starcrafts come pre-wired and with the camera mount pre-installed. 4 bars on a 31' trailer. Search this forum using the word "Furrion" and read the reviews. Picked mine up on Amazon for $325. They were up to $355 today. The Furrion website is asking $499.

I purchased the Rear View Safety RVS-770613-213 wired camera system as well. I have finished installing and wiring my TV and will hopefully be wiring the FW this coming week. After hearing so many people talk about the issues with the wireless cameras, I decided to go with the wired option and just skip the future headaches.
