Question rope light options?

I tried the color changing strip lights many here recommended and they failed miserably...perhaps I received a bad remote or receiver but they wouldn't change color after the first time we used them. I changed the remote battery and it worked again, but the next night it was stuck on one color again. Anyway, has anyone found a quality rope light that can be cut to length and isn't bright enough to confuse airplanes flying overhead?

I bought these: Amazon linky There are several retailers of the same light set. We liked them when they worked but they didn't last very long.

I didn't see any mention of these being waterproof. The waterproof ones SAY waterproof in the listing and they have a think, clear, squishy covering over the strips.

:stupid: I hope that isn't the exact set you bought. In order for them to work they must be the waterproof ones and even with the waterproof ones, the little white control box still needs to be kept out of the weather.

I have had the waterproof ones on the road now for 6 weeks.
I plugged them in in a good rain the other night.
Plug was dripping before I got it plugged in and they work great.
I have put rolled these up at least 40 times. Still work good.
