Satellite MOD

Howdy all,
I did my first mod. I made a DirecTV satellite dish stand from PVC pipe. I found the plans on another RV website. I also downloaded a free program called SatCalc1.2. This program allows me, with a simple magnetic compass, to aim the dish at the satellite. At first I used the dish next to the door on the ground, but soon discovered that putting it up on the roof was even better. I had less stuff to get in the way of the satellite up there, and I didn't have to worry about it "walking away." I found aiming it to be quite simple and easy. It was great getting Fox News and the Weather Channel while RVing.

RVrev2, I like the low profile!! How is it weighted down? We camped in March and one day the wind picked up and gusted at least 20-25+ mph at times. The sattelite dish/stand that came with our new tt fell once. Don came up with some way to anchor it for the duration of our stay.... but what about when your set-up is on the roof? Have you had to deal with gusting or high winds while parked? How do you anchor it down so it stays up there? Thanks

Do you have to be online to use it for the calculations?

Howdy Healthi,
I haven't had to fight any winds yet. To anchor it down on the roof I have a couple of options. I could tie it down to the luggage rack on the roof, or I could fill it with water or sand, or I could use sand bags ontop of the legs.
In regards to the SatCalc1.2 program, you do not have to be online to get the calculations.
