The hose that came with my 23b is only about 30 inches long to fit the holder. From what has been posted in this thread I'm concerned that I might need something longer. Can I get by OK with what I have? vic

90% of the time, I only use the short hose. It is that other 10% of the time that gets ya! Most of the time, I am able to get close to the dump. However, there is always that one campground that places it just out of reach.

As it turned out, I didn't have to make any alterations. New Rhinoflex hoses and fittings are shaped so that when properly oriented - the hose fits snugly in the standard bumper. I made a small mod to the septic adapter so now everything included in the kit fits in the bumper....

"Ears" are the tabs on the end of the hose that locks it to the dump valve on your rv.

If I "shave" the ears of the rhino, how many ears are left? Is that enough to provide a tight seal? Do I shave the ears on both sides?

They are just there to provide extra grip when attaching the hose to the sewer outlet. You only need to cut about 1/2 of 2 of them off (side by side not opposite)

(New Rhinoflex Hoses fit the 4" tube bumper without trimming ....the link below shows how to trim the sewer adapter to fit into the 4" bumper as well...)
