Thermostat Change

Has anyone swapped out the Thermostat for the furnace in their unit? I find the thing to be quite unsightly and very very slow to take action on input. Wondering if it has been done before and if so where you found a compatible unit. Ill attach a pic of mine shortly.

Thanks!

I swapped out the Coleman Mach analog unit with the Coleman Mach digital unit. It is a little more pricy than other options, but is a direct (wire to wire) replacement for the analog one. Other options work, but are a little more difficult to wire and some require an additional switch to be installed for the two speed fan.

Exactly. If you use the search you'll have a days reading on changing thermostats. I've done it both ways and just getting the RV model is much easier.
Doesn't take too long to find out that if a product says RV on it that doesn't stand for real value.

Post #3441 in this thread. This is just the most recent post on the topic I could find.

http://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f2...-9698-345.html

I made the switch in my trailer last year and it has been one of my favorite mods. Easy install. As mentioned above, there are cheaper options, but definitely none easier.

ETA: Here's another discussion (I searched "digital thermostat" and got plenty of results):

Make sure you get the correct replacement thermostat. Some of the ones mentioned here are NOT the correct replacement. I would google the part number on your unit and look for a digital replacement.

For sure, perhaps i didn't phrase my question very well. The image i posted is the same thermostat i have in my 16XRB, It is for heat only and tied to just the furnace, not like the more traditional thermostat changes that have been posted.

My apologies.

None required, I don't think it will be hard to find a digital or even modify one if you can get some info. I know it can be done just never have dug deep enough.

Can you post some identifying numbers on the analog thermostat?

Any battery operated digital thermostat should work.

How many wires do you have connected to the existing stat and what are the colors?

I swapped mine out today from a digital to the Mach digital so I could have the hi/lol fan option. Disappointed thought that I can't run a/c fn when heat is on.

I replaced the t-stat for the furnace in our Hummingbird with a Honeywell digital, heating-only thermostat. Now I actually know what temperature I'm setting it to, works great.

I put that same one in my x17z. Painfully easy, and works great. Make sure you keep an extra set of batteries in the camper, though. You don't want to get stuck without heat on a chilly night because the batteries died.

I found the best price on my digital thermostat here.

https://www.makariosrv.com/rv-thermostats/

They even have a link to match up your old thermostat to a digital one.

Hello, did you replace the thermostat because the furnace will run randomly even when off? We also have a 17RK. It took a while to figure out why our battery was always dead anytime we get ready to use the camper. With a recharged battery, we heard the furnace trying to light and the fan was running. There is no shut-off switch for the battery, so now we pull the fuse.
