TV Mounting Mod

The rear bedroom of my 30.5 BHLT has a rather deep opening where a TV can sit. I have purchased a 24" LED TV and wanted to mount it on an extendable wall mount this way the TV can sit flush against the rear wall and pull out for viewing. Jayco had thoughtfully placed a backing board to help facilitate this BUT it's not in the right location.

To get around this I am installing a 1/2" piece of Oak plywood stained to match the woodwork into the opening and gluing / screwing the board to the wall that will give enough bite to mount the TV mount.

To be continued....

Here's the finished installation, and it is quite strong:

Mounting of the TV bracket to the wall is now on 1/2" plywood.

Travel / Storage position:

Extended and pointed down so it's viewable by both the lower bunk and the upper bunk:

And a the top view:

The stain I used wasn't as "red" as I would have liked it to be, but it isn't a bad match. I could always put a veneer or a wall paper if it bothers me, but so far it doesn't.

The mount is quite solid, but I am putting a removable bracket on the TV so it will be taken down during travel. The other option is to mount a strap to the wall to secure it against the wall and install the stand to support it during travel. Either way I am happy with the results.

I thought that was Jack Lord on the TV view photo hehe...

We have been suggesting to folks to use the spring wing toggle bolts or the Moly bolts for anchors for the thick back section to support the weight of the TV mounts

photos from google images

Looks like you was able to to just screw into the existing 1X2 wood studs to hold up your back board. Looks like you did a good job... You can still change your wood decor with a more red stain from your local Lowes store. Sometimes I paint on the wood stain with a brush or just stick a rag into the can and wipe it on.

Nice job.

Regarding the new series of Hawii 5-O. It sure is strange you dont see any photos hanging on a wall somewhere of Jack Lord in the new show haha I dont know how the new Steve Mcgarret fits into the family tree as his father's name is John Mcgarret. Its still a good series to watch... It may have been explained already but I must have missed that showing.

Nice Job.

And do you do house calls? I have some Scotch in the garage! (12 yrs. old )

I will get the supplies I need so it at the end of the month, Off for a week. I will attempt it. Heading up to Merritt, I need a rest.
It is a opening for a 22 in TV can not fit a bigger one in there.

Thanks
