I'm in the marine LED lighting business. I have my own products and website for underwater lights and flood lights. I also sell a variety of LED strip lighting. So I have an almost unlimited supply and access to various LED products through various vendors.
I am not trying to sell myself but I know once pictures are posted some people will ask questions and try to point out things wrong. So I wanted it to be known up front that this is what I do for a living....on boats. So on an RV it's no different except for subtracting the salt water and pounding over waves. No the wiring job on this would not be suitable for a boat.
While the LED strip built into the awning is nice, we have found it to be way to bright when trying to relax outside at night. So I wanted to put some lights under the trailer for a more subtle light. I can control the color and brightness of the lights and not having direct line of sight with the lights makes them much easier on the eyes. Just a nice glow on the ground around the trailer.
I did this install very simple. I put the controller and amplifier right in the battery box lid. Small push button switch on the lid to power up the controller then I can use the IR remote to choose the color, brightness and fade pattern if I want.
I got the right side done today. Just waiting for it to get dark to see how it looks. I'll do the left side tomorrow. For now here is the setup under the battery box lid.
On the installed picture, the little white wire sticking out is the IR receiver.
