I don't have a pass through, but I do have a very large side access compartment. I put my spring bars in there for both storage and at the CG. I take my hitch off and keep the hitch lock on it and lay it next to the tongue. Depending on where I camp I might also wrap one of the safety chains around it with a lock.

We just leave the assembled WDH on the ground.

At 60+lbs and floppy, it is unlikely for it to wander off....

Out of the way, so nobody breaks a toe when the find it after dark.

JMO, it's too expensive of an item to leave laying around. I do a lot of travel out of state and if someone ever had sticky fingers I'd play hell get replacement parts & it sure would disrupt my trip.

Just don't want to tempt anyone take the chance. Not exactly a $10 lawn chair.

I put my bars in the outside storage and lock my hitch into a receiver I added to the rear bumper. Doing that keeps it off the ground and easier to pick up. Don't have to bend over as far. At home, the hitch stays in the garage between trips. I only use the rear bumper receiver for storing the hitch at the campground.
