American Pride shown at Lake Byllesby, Cannon Falls, MN
My wife Sandy and I visit a Regional Park in Cannon Falls, MN called "Lake Byllesby" (pronounced Billsbee). This is one of our favorite campgrounds as Regional Parks go. We always have the same site that backs up to a smaller section of the Lake. This past weekend we pulled in to the park and found several people flying the American Flag. As some of you may know, I made a Flag Pole out of PVC and added a few touches of my own such as Two Solar Spot lights on top. I took a picture of the first 6 sites in a row. 5 of the 6 sites had a similar flag pole.
Our site, flag and truck is the one on the far right or the truck with "Support Our Troops" Minnesota plates.
This is the view we had all weekend from our site
Here is a picture I took before we left on Sunday. As you can see, most everyone has left already.
If you ever travel through Southern Minnesota, please visit this place for a night or a weekend. If you do, please let me know and I would be happy to join you or just visit for a little while.

That is a nice display of patriotism, a clean camp, and a wonderful view!

I like the flag pole. I have been looking at our 17Z to figure out where to mount a bracket. I think I'll just do something similar to yours with the pvc. It's nice to see the flags flying. I've always flown a lit flag at home, something my WWII veteran grandfather instilled in me. When we've camped in the past we always brought a little one on a wooden stick (parade style) but it is always getting blown around. Thanks for the tip.

I posted a thread a while back about my revised flag pole
http://www.jaycoowners.com/showthread.php?t=1022
The website I used to make my Flag Pole is
http://www.missouriscenicrivers.com/...poleplans.html
I used 1" PVC instead of the 3/4" PVC they recommend
I placed a "T" at the top instead of the cap shown and placed a Solar Light on each side of the "T" on top.
I can not locate (online) the solar lights that I use, but they were purchased at Home Depot. They are black in color and come two per package for about $20.00 and they are 20 watts each. The first thread I posted shows the flag pole with only one light on top, but the night photo is after I installed both lights.

We have found a way that we can fly the flag anytime we stop overnight... small flag and a bungy cord.
Otherwise, Don has been talking about making a flag set-up. Nice mod Daryl!!! Thanks for the instructions

Nice looking combo. Is your truck an F150? If it is, how does it pull the trailer? What hitch do you have?

Hi llerberg,
Yes .... my TV is a 2006 F150 with a 5.4 V8. This set up is very nice. I also have the Equal-i-zer WD system. This is the only WD I have used and absolutely love it, so I can not compare to other WD systems.
We have used this "Package" for the past 2 years and love it.
Our TT weighs right around 6,000 pounds with all of our gear, food, bedding, chairs and other items.
We took it out to the Black Hills last year and averaged 10.9 miles per gallon round trip. No troubles pulling up hills and always maintained speed. In fact, I past a few people pulling trailers on some of the hills.
Is there a paticular reason you ask about our set up?

Late last fall we decided we needed a trailer larger than our Scamp. We sold the Scamp and bought an F150 and Model 242 Jayco. We also ordered an Equilizer hitch. The Ford and Jayco numbers suggest there should be no problem but it's nice to hear it from who has a nearly identical truck/trailer combo. We didn't really need a WD hitch for the Scamp so bought the Equilizer mostly on reputation. We drive from home to LaCrosse frequently and have noticed the signs for that state park many times. From your photos it looks like a really nice campground.

Do you know the dates? I would love to visit you or even camp the same weekend you will be there (if that is OK with you).

That looks like a great place to spend some time. How is the humidity and mosquitoes?

The humidity can be pretty high during mid-summer (July - Aug).
The mosquitoes are fairly low, but they are present.
All in all, this is a great campground and has a beach and an area to go swimming.
There is also a large playground, horseshoe pits and a large opena area that allows kids and adults to fly kites or play football or soccer.

Great flag set up. I am purchasing the materials today and will try to go the same route with the T and solar lights. As an Active Duty Soldier, I really appreciate the support I see when our Nations Flag is flown. Thanks for the plans and I hope to post pics soon.
