27DSRL First Trip

First trip out with our new 27DSRL. Rained all weekend! Thanks Mother Nature! All systems worked as expected. Couple of observations. The area at the back where the recliners sit needs to be 18" deeper. That would leave enough room to get in and out without disturbing the person in the chair by the door. Overall the camper is a good layout for about 6 people to be inside for an extended period of time. Condensation was an issue with the cold temps outside and spending so much time inside. Fridge worked good, outdoor fridge works, never heard it running at night, when in the bedroom. I think that it will be nice to have when spending most of our time outside. Bumper mounted grill worked ok, but did notice that when the furnace was running, the grill struggled to maintain a good temperature, suspect that the propane line is inadequate to run both at the same time. Not a big deal, but something to be aware off.

If I had to order again, I think I would figure out my own grill set up. The grill works, but probably will not last more than a couple of seasons.

All in all, a successful trip. Can't wait to go out again when the weather is a little warmer!

Dealer didn't setup the hitch at all, am adjusting as I go. So far pulls ok, just getting it dialed in. TS Centerline.

The mount for the grill fits two brands of grills at CampingWorld and other places. One of the models is stainless steel and pretty nice. I just figure I'll upgrade once the one that came with the trailer rusts out.

Welcome to the forum. We have a Weber Q220 which is good for the two of us. Put it on the picknic table. You can get the 300 series if you need a larger grill. Have a small about one gallon tank we run it from but it will run off a 20 or 30 lb tank.

The thought of having 6 people in a 27DSRL for any lenght of time doesn't appeal to me. Most we have is a 100lb black lab, whose crate takes the place of the streetside chair and our grand daughter who sleeps on the couch.

Welcome! bought a 27dsrl last year (2015) so far all is good. Just the two of us and a little Jack Russel. Love the layout. We do not have the recliners, instead the swivel rockers were in last years model. We have the summit edition with glacier package. Made several additions and modification thus far to make it ours. I will not list them here but if you want to know what we added both inside and outside be glad to let you know. Enjoy and be safe in your travels

The wife and I also looked at the 27DSRL and thought that's the floor plan we liked. But after actually looking at one, the "deal Breaker" for the wife, was she couldn't reach the upper cabinets (she's 5'2") over the sink with the way the counter curves out. She would have to use a step stool to reach them. She also noted lack of storage space for pots and pans, women...... What are ya gonna do? I also noticed the tight space where the recliners are, I'm 6'3".

So I guess we'll stick with the X23B for a while

Hmm, I haven't thought of that, still going to look at some 5'er to see what floor plan the wife and I like.

There is a cabinet, under counter, to the right of the rear door as you enter the camper that doesn't get much use on our camper but I think would work for pots & pans?

We are considering this trailer too and this is also something I worry about. Being "vertically challenged", I wondered about reaching those upper cabinets too. Will look at this carefully when we get to the dealership this week.

Be glad it rained all weekend now you KNOW you have no leaks...
as far as condensation get some roof vent covers so you can leave the roof vent cracked open in the rain to help eliminate the condensation..

I personally like this floor plan as I think it's a nice couples' trailer, plus it is a size that my TV could handle without any problems. But it seems there is no "perfect" TT, as you gotta give something to get something it seems.

And as the ol' saying goes..... If Momma aint happy, aint nobody happy

Not to worry on the height problem, wife is 5'1" and no problem on the cabinets. We use the storage area to the right of the rear door entrance for pots and pans. Plenty of storage space available throughout. The overhead kitchen cabinets I made shelves to divide the cabinets in half. We do not use them microwave oven so that is another storage area for us. There is plenty of space for under the bed storage and under the benches in the dining area. Also I like the pass through storage in out side front. Also consider the location of the fresh water inlets and the handy flush for the black tank.
Look closely at the whole rig and you will see many feature included that many trailers do not have.

We love our 27DSRL. Wife is a little over 5' and is ok with overhead cabinets, way better than in our stick house. Lots of space in the pass thru. Keep pots and pans in the cabinet by the rear door. Lots of storage in the bath area.

Have made several mods, Fantastic vent, new faucet in bath, digital thermostat and a Progressive EMS with a detachable power cord and smaller stuff such as a towel rack to the right of the bathroom sink, more clothes hooks.

Have 39" TV in living area and 24" with built in DVD in bedroom.

The overhead lighting to too bright in most trailers, so have lamps on dining table and rear table bolted down with dimmers and other lighting in bedroom and living area with dimmers.

What brand of 39" TV did you use to replace in the living area? And did you use the existing mounting bracket?

That is where we store our pots and pans.

Answer to jamer. Is a Vizio non smart TV purchased in 2013. It is on a stand and is not mounted to the wall. It is not a replacement as the trailer did not come with any tvs.

I measured the available space and bought it from Sams. It just fits. Works ok and has a great picture, but a rather clunky user interface. I would not get another Vizio since all my other tvs are Samsung (except a 24" Toshiba with a DVD player builtin, for the trailer bedroom.) I think 39" tvs are hard to find in 2016 and the current Samsung 40" is just a little to big for the space.

That is our model as well. We went with the dinette rather than the table and chairs for the extra storage. We have had it a year and a half and have had almost no issues. The fit and finish issues we did encounter were easily self-repaired. We have had no buyer's remorse on this one.

Sadden by the fact that the 40" Samsung would not fit the opening the the 27 DSRL so I had to settle for the Smart Vizio 39" which does fit and can use the existing wall mount. Have a 28" vizio sound bar attached via optical and it is on the floor under the cabinet. So far all looks and sounds great! Going to add a Polk subwoofer to this set up. Only doing this because we plan on using the TT a whole bunch in the very near future. Wife and I retiring in Dec. 2016 than real travel begins.
