I would like to remove the AC from my 185 RB during the cooler months. I tried taking out the screw at the top but that did not loosen the unit. Any help appreciated. Thanks, Bob
I would rather have air leakage than create a hole in my wall and risk water leakage.Isn't the back of the unit exposed to the outside. Wouldn't removing it create a hole? Cant you just stuff some insulation in the vent? that should seal it.
if you are determined to do it I would check the documentation that came with your trailer for the A/C unit. I am sure the info is there.
We also have a 145RB with the side mount AC unit. Ours allows a cool breeze of outside air into the TT. Close inspection reveals that there is a complete lack of insulation or foam baffles in place to even partially seal out winter weather. I have studied the install manual that came with the AC unit and this AC wall unit is intended to be used as a window unit in a residential home. Side panels as shown in the provided manual which are to be used to close out weather and outside air. Removing the previously mentioned top screw only allows the unit to drop a half inch in the opening. So...how do we remove the unit for service, that info. is absent from the owner's manual info. thx!
You don't want to break that seal unless you have to fully inspect it or replace it. If your worried about air leakage, put a cover over the unit and removed the inside cowl and fab up a piece of insulation for the opening. As soon as a water leak starts...the damage is done (I know).
edit... referring to a roof mounted unit, not side.
We have our 185rb at the dealer due to our fridge will not work if you run the a/c, because of it being a window unit......... it causes a vaccuum inside the trailer. Anyway, the service man was going to remove our a/c and try to seal it and he told us you cannot remove that a/c unit without tearing up the cabinet, go figure.
