Bike rack for 2012 228???

Good evening everyone,

We got a 2012 228 leftover last October and can not wait to hit the road! We have 3 kids and need to take bicycles with us of course. Has anyone here have any ideas for a bike rack that will hold at least 4 bikes for the 228? We do not want to use the inside of the camper for bike storage. Any suggestions would be a huge help.

Thanks,
Ty Bacon

Ty, welcome to Jayco owners forum. I as well have a 228. The rear bumber is too flimsy to have a bolt on type bike rack. The only way you are going to get a bike rack is to have a welding shop beef up the back end to allow for a trailer receiver and bike rack to be installed or have a bike rack added to the front of the trailer. I built one on the front of a friends trailer but don't have a picture of it on my phone. If you join the Jayco 228 group here there are a couple of pictures of it there. As well as a bunch of us 228 owners who love to answer questions (and everyone else on this forum!!) Ryan

Thank you for the info. Can you tell me how to get to the 228 group? I am computer challenged?

At the top of this screen you need to hit the 'forum' button then the 'community' button then select 'groups'. One of the groups will be Jayco 228. Click on that and some where I believe will be a 'join' button. Once Lsuduke adds you to the group you can go back through the same process and view the 228 group. Ryan
