Cable TV hookup

probably dumb question. Above the wall where TV mounts, there are three eg nipples. When connected to antenna or cable, which one does the TV connect to?

Are they "labled"? What model camper do you have? On my Jayco 16XRB, I have one coax connector, and a button I push if I want to use the antenna instead of cable; if this button is pushed, the antenna is powered on; if it is not, the TV runs off of a cable hookup.

Maybe your camper does not have a power antennna type arrangement?

They are not labeled. I have the one you describe. But, beside that one, is another plate with two male connectors. It is a Jay Feather SLX 22.

Same setup in my 19RD. The manuals make no mention of them.

And the two unlabeled connectors are jumpered together.

The jumped together ones are the antena booster going back through the cable. Don't disconnect. Push button to use antena, button off for cable.

What about connecting to the entertainment centre (DVD player, etc). Is it all through the single coax connection beside the antenna power?

Has anyone installed their own exterior cable jack? I'm afraid to drill through the side of the TT!

You should have 2 wall plates. One has a 12V power receptacle, a cable connector and a push button. The TV connects to that one.

The other wall plate has 2 cable connectors. One connector goes to the cable connector outside the camper. The other connector goes to the cable input behind the wall plate with the 12V power connector.

With the jumper in place the outside connector is connected to the TV when the push button is OFF (not lit). This is how you are set up for cable.

To use a satellite receiver you remove the jumper. One connector (usually the top one) goes to the satellite input on the satellite receiver. The other connector goes to the TV output connector on the satellite receiver. Again the push button is OFF (not lit). The satellite dish then connects to the outside cable connector.

The push button turns the roof antenna amplifier ON. It should be on when using the antenna and not cable or satellite.

Hope this helps you understand it.

These connectors/jumper have nothing to do with the antenna booster. The jumper is removed when using a satellite receiver.

Thanks for the clarification. I had called my dealer to ask, and that was the info they gave me. Guess they're not perfect. You're description really helped me understand it. So I gained some education.

Over the years I have bought several campers from different dealers and it has always amazed me how ill-informed these dealers are about the various systems in these RV's. Every PDI I have had has had mis-information provided.

The best way to know what is good information and what is not is do your own research. Never take one person's explanation on how something works. Always look for the same answer from multiple sources.

That includes sites like this. There is much well-meaning information here that is inaccurate.

Remember 2 things very important about sites like this:

1) We've been there and have first hand-experience of the problem (anxiety) and the solution (relief).
2) We are NOT in it for the money. No one here is trying to sell you anything.
