Caster Wheels
I own a Jayco Featherlite 23B, which is built to sit lower to the ground than other campers I have seen. The road I live off of has two accesses, and I can never take the southern access because there is a huge dip at a T-intersection and the rear end would drag. The State is building an access off of my road, and they temporarily shut down the northern access of my road (for about a year) so I have to use the southern access.
I know the bottom will drag going south so I want to install some caster wheels on the rear end but I am having difficulty locating a place I can mount them. I noticed some metal triangles on the rear bottom of the camper - are these meant to prevent the bottom from hitting the road? Can casters be mounted to these?
I have noticed some space on an I-beam between the BAL levelers and bumper that could be used to mount a caster; however, I only have about 1.5" on top to work with (the caster wheel brackets that I found consisted of two plates about 4" wide each..... they sandwiched the I-beam between them and bolted together). Is there a mounting bracket for a caster that could fit in here that would support the weight of the camper?
I'm attaching a couple photos.
Any advice is greatly appreciated - I don't want to sacrifice a year of camping if I don't have to.
