Floor in a white hawk

I cut a hole in my floor today and found that it's made up from two pieces of 1/4 plywood with foam in between I hope this last it seems that 5/8 plywood would be better but we will.see.

Most of the liteweights have that floor construction to save weight, whereas the Eagles and Jayflights have the plywood. There were some issues with the luan and foam floors having some soft spots in some of the earlier models, but hopefully they have resolved those by now.

I had, noticed I said had, a 2014 Jay Feather Ultra 221 and the floor came apart in less than a year, they fixed it and it came apart again. I will never buy a light weight trailer again. Hope yours does ok.

Hitch Pin; have you taken out your 2015 23 RB this fall? And how do you like it?
I like the layout from the 23 RB special the queen bed layout. The 198 RD has the crawl over queen and is a bit hard to get up for the DW because of mattress and 2" memory foam.

Sorry for the late reply, I didn't see the post.

I think we have camped in it 12 weeks, that's 84 days so far, we have had 6 trailers and 3 popups.

This by far is the best one we've ever had. We have had absolutely no problems at all with this trailer.

Biggest reason we went with the Jay Flight. Wood construction and plywood floor.

We just purchased a 2015 Whitehawk 33BHBS and have had it out on 3 trips. We have noticed weak spots in the floor, one in front of the fridge, one near the door and another going back to the bedroom. The one near the fridge is most worrisome as we can see the seam separate and rise and sag when walked on. We never noticed it when we looked at it initially or during the walk through. I find it's not as noticeable with shoes on so perhaps that's why we didn't feel it. We have mentioned it to the dealer and said they haven't heard of that before. We can't get it to them to look at until the fall but my husband has his doubts anything will be done. We intend to keep this trailer for a long time but are scared the floor will not hold up. What are other dealers doing about this issue?

I've been there an done that, here's your trouble, you have a vacuum bonded floor, there's not much you can do about the weak spots in the floor. Believe me they will get worse.

I believe they changed the floor construction in the 2016 whitehawks. Ours is a 2015 bought in May. We haven't noticed anything yet with the floor being soft, but will wait and see in time. We too are planning on keeping this one for a longer period of time.

I have a 2011 Jay Feather with the foam and luan floor, walls and ceiling. I read about people who had issues with this type of floor prior to purchasing ours. Some owners made repairs to their floors which you can search for on this forum. I noticed when I added 3" of closed cell insulation to the underside of our trailer that
there was a cross support every 30 inches except for one area that went close to four feet. I had a steel "I" beam cut that I placed in the middle of the longer span.
So far everything has been great. I thought I could always add a plywood floor should the need arise. I think the floors should holdup but need to be watched for any changes.

We now notice soft spots in our Whitehawk as well. It's still under warranty but after doing a bit of reading on the forum, it's unlikely we will be happy with the outcome. We were thinking of trading in for a 28 foot eagle bunkhouse but I also ran across the thread about that being a bit much for an F150. May have to do the TV and TT all over again.

We just traded our '09 Eagle SL 315BHDS FW in for this Whitehawk, and although we love the layout and the ease of towing with the TT, I'm beginning to regret the decision. Loved our FW and the quality of construction but the expense of having a larger TV for the sake of just hauling the trailer was becoming a pain.
Well I guess I wait and see what they say when I bring it in. But I am afraid I will have to put up a fight to get anything done.

I'm in the same boat as Snaporaz.I can see nothing but more issues with the floor but my 2014 Siverado won't tow anything heavier and I really don't want to trade a year old truck too.

I have had no problem with my White Hawk floor. The new ones now have 5/8 plywood floors but are about #600 heavier.

5/8 plywood is not what we can call very thick, many rv with plywood floor suffer also from soft spot, even the Cardinal FW at 50k $ so.....enjoy the trailer and stop worry ;-)
