Found a hole in the tent end of my new X17Z!

Hey everyone,

Just got back from my 2nd trip with our new X17Z. While camping in Maine this weekend, I discovered some light peeking through what appears to be a small hole in the tent end of the trailer. It's only the size of a pea and isn't all the way through, but I'm bummed that I already have an issue.

I plan on letting the dealer know, but I don't feel like hitching it up and bringing it back for them to fix it. Is this an easy enough DIY job? I want to patch it before it gets any bigger. For what it's worth, it rained all night one night and didn't leak, but I'm sure it will only get worse. I heard Goop is good to patch, anyone use that before?

Here's a picture...

I have some trim and decal work that I'm going to have my dealership fix at the end of season under warranty. I'm just going to add this to that list. No items on my list that are not mostly cosmetic. The decal is really the only reason I'm going to bring her in.

For us owners og Hybrid TT's, pin holes are fairly common. The hole you have is nothing to worry about. I have the X23B and it also has a pin hole. We have been camping in some heavy storms and have not had any problems as far as leaking is concerned.

You could try some of the tape designed for repairing awnings - sold at Camping World and most RV dealers. Should keep the hole from getting any worse.

We had this happen on our old PUP. Just put a little silicone sealer on it.

Cool, thanks everyone. I'm trying to keep it in perfect condition, but realize things like this do happen. Jayco has a great warranty and the dealership I bought it from is great. Maybe I'll just keep an eye on it for now, and have it repaired under warranty the next time I drop it off for any type of scheduled service of sorts. I'll keep some silicon handy in case I need to patch it before then.

I love this forum! So many great people helping each other out. I've been tent camping for a while, but newbie trailer owner so I love the help.

Correct me if I'm wrong but even though the trailer has a 2 year warranty. I'm sure I was told somewhere (dealer?) that the tent end fabric has a 5 year warranty.

I've heard Jayco has a 2 year warranty, not sure about the tent fabric, great to know. That being said, if it's covered under warranty I wonder if they dealer would repair it or replace the material all together?

Found this on Jayco's website:

Jayco offers to the original purchaser additional industry-leading lifetime parts and labor coverage on our camping trailer lifter system, roof, floor, and frame. We also offer for camping trailers five-year (5) coverage on our tent with parts, labor, and freight covered the first two years; parts, factory labor, and return freight during years three, four, and five.

Pin holes are common. We have a few, not one leaks. I have heard and could see happening, when slipping the J-Bar into the end brace you can pinch the fabric and create a small hole. When we where looking at used PUPs we saw this a lot.
