How do you get the speaker covers off???

I have a Jayco whitehawk ultra light and want to replace the $2 interior speakers. I have new speaker but for the life of me cannot get the dang speaker covers off the current ones. I can turn the cover to the left but it just turns and turns with and will not come off. What am I missing here??

Try pulling down on the cover slightly as you turn it. I guess it didn't drop into the slots to let it come off before. In my unit I had to do that to get the covers off.

If they can be turned, then they are not screwed or secured to the speaker basket. Chances are they are simply pressed or pressure fit. Try a flat tip screw driver and pry one side at a time. They should pop off.

I am definitely missing something. I have turned and pulled on the dang things until it looked like I was about to pull the roof down trying to find slots. I have considered taking a screw driver to them but extremely worried about doing damage to the roof. I weigh in at 280 pounds and like I said have turned pulled on them til it looked like I would pull the roof down. I am thinking they are not pressure fit. UUggg.. this should not be one of life's aggravations. ;-)

Can you post a closeup picture of one of your OEM speakers?

Gee, your unit is practically brand new. Why don't you just make a call to Jayco Customer Service and ask them? They might even have some hints or tricks to use to make the removal easier and prevent possible damage. My speaker covers just pry off, but my trailer's 12 years old and things might have changed since then.

I had a buzzing sound (not electrical, but like something was lying on the speaker cone) in one of mine. When I removed the speaker I immediately saw the problem- a plastic tip that had been cut off from a tube of caulking was lying on the back of the speaker cone. Once I removed it and put everything back together, the noise was gone.
