How to seal small punctures in roof
I just finished inspecting my roof on my 2015 185RB and found several punctures in the roof caused by acacia tree thorns. They are 1/16 - 1/8" in diameter.
I think Eternabond tape would be over kill.
Do you have any recommendations of what I could use to plug the punctures ?
Thanks
-john

There's probably a better way than this but if there's not too many of them I might try and force a bit of silicone in the holes. Make sure to clean the area around the hole first.

Don't use silicone as it will leave a film on the roofing that will make it difficult to apply a proper patch in the future. Get a tube of Dicor Lap Sealant or equivalent.

I had a 1/4'' x 1/2'' tear in my roof. Dealer said it was an easy fix and used calk (pry the lap sealant dlberman suggested). The tear was on the back edge of the roof which I think is why they used calk.
It may be too thick for that small of a hole. You can always cut a bigger hole and use tape... Just kidding....

I'm a huge fan of eternabond. The little dab that an RV store will sell you is hugely expensive. However, if you buy a 50' roll of it, you can get a real bargain. A 2" wide roll can be had for $30. I bought a 4" roll for around $50.

Eternabond is the best bet. Caulk would work, but how can you be sure that you have forced the caulk into the hole and sealed it, as opposed to putting a small layer of caulk over top that can rub off?
I would buy a roll (or bum a foot or two from a friend) and install the tape and never have to worry about it again.

I have used Eternabond for very small dings. No more worries.

My opinions.
DO NOT USE SILICONE.
I assume the problems are where nobody will ever see the repairs?
Your friend is proper cleaning and enough surface area for proper bond.
Concerning yourself about aesthetics in an area that doesn't matter will work against you.
My two choices.
Properly clean/prep the area and apply a decent sized piece of Eternabond tape.
Properly clean/prep the area and apply a good sized dollop of recommended roof patch sealant.
You want enough surface area around the damage to ensure enough bond to keep water out and to provide strength against movement from wind, thermal stress, etc. An application of a tiny quantity of sealant or tape reduces the chances of achieving a proper bond. Why would you apply a small sized patch?
Whatever you decide to use, make certain to properly clean/prep the damaged area and apply a large enough patch section.

Personally, I would use eternbond tape. It maybe over kill, fix it and forget it. I put a small tear in my roof, quick fix.

I don't think anything is overkill when it comes to roof repairs no matter how small. I use Eternabond.

As Hoppers4 mentioned, Eternabond can be expensive at RV stores. I have also found deals on Eternabond on ebay. Especially for black color. Its on the roof and no one will see it from the ground I did all of my roof seals in black (vent hood, etc.) instead of reapplying Dicor lap sealant.

Thanks for all your suggestions.....especially the Eternabond fanboys.
I will first try the Dicor Lap Sealant as blderman advised. If that is not effective I will use the Eternabond tape.
