Hummingbird Owners:

I'm interested to know what solution you have if any, for a screen enclosure.....integrated with the awning or standalone?

Yeah. I have the 17RB, there is a 12ft version. It's just a square awning like any others

Yes, considered that. The trick would be attaching it to the HBird. Do-able, but other less expensive options come to mind. Targeting the right balance between easy, economical and effective. We found a 7 x 16 screen at Harbor Freight that we will play around with when the weather gets a little friendlier. To hold it up, thinking about fully extending the awning, inserting the screen edge underneath, then rolling the awning back ~ 1/2 revolution. Get extending poles for each corner and attach either end to the awning mounting brackets.

I can definitely see the benefit of having a screen room, especially the way the bugs are around our area in the summer......but coming from tent camping it just takes me back to that life for some reason and loses the convenience of having our new TT.

There are some nice stand-alone ez-up style tent rooms available that are way less expensive and could be set up next to the TT or under the awning, just a thought. I would think a stand-alone style would do a better job of sealing out the critters, other than entry/exit times. We all even have the perfect picnic table stored onboard for the room.

Plus if a quick storm blows in expectantly like it does around here, you wouldn't have a sail/battering ram attached to the side of that nice TT .

$80 vs $600.

Yea...we have an EZ Up with screen sides....just trying to think of a way to extend the space versus creating a separate space w/o spending a ton of money on an off the shelf product that may not be any good. Newbies experimenting :-)

I was kind of thinking about this as well. I was waiting until we pick up our camper to see the brand of awning that it has and was going to look at the manufacturer because I know some of them have options for adding screen panels to the awning. I get that it won't be cheap but as mentioned my concern will be wind. I know everyone always says to not leave an awning extended if you leave camp because you never know when a gust will blow through. Not sure if adding walls will help or make this worse which has me thinking about going with something stand alone. It would be nice to have one attached because it expands the living space a bit more with the outdoor TV but I would rather not risk damage and it would be too much work to pull the sides down if leaving camp so the awning can be retracted.
