Jack Placement
I have an '06 29Y JayFeather. Can someone tell me where Jayco recommends to place the jack when changing a flat? I've heard everything. Also, is it ok to use a trailer aid ramp? Tku

Jack directly under steel frame. You can use leveling boards under the good tire on a tandum axle. Why spend $ on an extra item?

The frame is extremely narrow.. What type jack is best? What do the leveling boards do. Sorry to sound stupid.

Most people use a hydraulic bottle jack. They are short so you use the boards to set the jack on.

1x on the leveling boards. I have a stack of the "lego" levers and they work great as a jack. A stack of 2 followed by a stack of 4 worked on the X23B. On our new 5th I have to get it up on a stack of 5 to get the tire off the ground. Once it's up there it is very stable. I also carry a bottle jack cause you just never know...

Bought me a 8' 2x6, cut into 3 staggered lengths, nailed them together, and now have a high leveling block, and a ramp to pull on to raise the other tire.

Almost forgot the question. My dealer/tech advised me they placed the jack on the axle, between the bolts that connect frame shackle to axle. I have a short piece of hvy steel that fits between bolts, and transfer weight over a wider area.

It's my understanding You should not lift the whole side of a camper by lifting under one of the axles, each axle is designed to hold half the weight of the camper. You jack the side by placing the jack on the frame close to one of the axles because the frame is designed to hold half the weight of the camper. I lifted my camper off the ground and removed all 4 tires by using two bottle jacks each placed behind the back spring shackle holder on the frame. That is the closest jacking point on my camper.

I have the torsion axles. Jayco said, frame only. In front, or, behind the wheel to be changed. They emphatically stated , not to lift, via the axle, or by driving one up on a ramp. I just hate to mess something up. I see a lot of people use the ramps, and, use the axles. Thanks for the help guys!

Just a thought. Say you have two axles and four tires setting on the ground. If you jack up a axle on one side, do you "pickup half the tt weight" or perhaps some of that weight is carried by the opposite side tire? Would you not be then picking up about one quarter of the tt weight? How is the tt weight carried on one axle, when one has a flat tire, and travels for a number of miles?

Pin broke in right front jack. Where do i put jack to lift 2017 jayco pinnacle 5th wheel high enough to get it back on the hitch in the truck.

Just throwing this out there. I have an exhaust jack AKA low pressure lifting airbag that works nicely. You can fill it with vehicle exhaust, air compressor or stored Co2 gas. It lifts 4.4 tons and goes from flat to 36" and has a big base so its great for tall trailers or Getting yourself out of muddy/sandy mire. Placment and use take a little practice but it's a good option.
