Jayco Ultra Lite 228 lift kit?

Hello, new Jayco owner as of 11am this morning! Anyone get the 2 inch lift on their 228 after they purchased their unit? My dealer is having issues finding the right parts. I called Jayco and they just took my info and said they would be in touch soon. If you have a 228 with that 2 inch lift can you post a pic so I can see the difference please? I know it was an option if you odered it from rvdirect.com.

Also if you happen to know the part numbers or how to get the proper set up let me know!

Many thanks!

Dennis

We did not order ours wih the lift kit either. Is it even possible to do the lift kit after the factory? Just curious why you want to lift it, I find the clearance is quite good? Have you called Jayco yet?

Congrats on the new 228 purchase! As the summer starts it seems more 228 owners are showing up! My 228 came from the factory with the 2" lift kit already installed. If I remember correctly it is an extra piece of 2" steel tube welded under the frame tube and the axle mounted to that. Just had a quick look at my pics and compared them to Jayco 228's and mine does seem to have a little bit more clearance. The only reason that I can think of is to not have to drop the WDH head down too low which allow the trailer to be towed behind taller SUV's and trucks. But I think if you trailer shank has enough of a drop (my shank is a 6" but you can also buy 8" and 10" shanks) you can lower the WDH head instead of raising the trailer. Tonight I will take a pic of the lift kit and post it. But you may be able to get away with a longer shank instead of raising the trailer. I do know that you can raise the trailer after the factory. I have seen it done where a welder can lift the trailer, cut the axle off, put in the spacer and re-attach the axles. Ryan

Ry-guy,

Pictures would be great! I came from a Rockwood Roo 21SS Hybrid which had amazing clearance compared to the 228. The 228 is better on every level for me and my family over the hybrid Roo except the clearance issue. I have a sloped driveway and was concerned about ripping the plumbing out.

Thanks!

Dennis

I had a quick look at mine. I don't think you can install the 2" lift after the factory. The torsion axle is welded to a plate which is then bolted to the frame. Depending on what plate the used probably determines the height of the trailer. Sorry I have not been able to get out to get pics tonight. I will see if I can take some tomorrow. Ryan

dwine go to User CP in upper left corner of screen click on it and go to social groups. Then select 228 group and join. Once you join, you can post messages to fellow members of the group, but for overall questions and comments use the overall board so everybody looks at it. You would be the 6th member, I happen to be the only one without a trailer currently, but it is supposed to roll off the line today, so she will be home soon.
