Maiden Voyage in the 2014 185RB
We had a blast this weekend, the trailer pulled nice and setup was so easy I thought I was forgetting to do something. I averaged 13.9 mpg for the trip. It was a short 40 mile trip from home on a small highway with many speed zones for towns and such some hills etc.. I am so used to setting up up the popup this was so easy we were done in ten minutes and relaxing. One thing I want to get is 2 little jack stands for the front though it was a little bouncy up there with just the tongue jack. I brought those Camco stackable leveling blocks and a set of wedge ramp type ones and did not use either for leveling this outing. When I pulled up next to the little concrete pad the trailer was perfect side to side. I did use the Camco blocks instead of a block of wood under the rear leveler pads.
The fridge stayed ice cold on gas as we did not have any amenities like power or sewage. It was a NY State park like we usually camp in and they had bathrooms and showers, water spigot next to us so we did not use the water, grey or black tanks. It was my first time in this particular park. It was Selkirk Shores State Park and it is on a bluff overlooking Lake Ontario.
As I suspected the microwave made a great bread holder. To us camping is all about cooking on the open fire and spending outdoors not in the trailer anyway. But it sure is going to be nice when the weather is bad.
The other thing I suspected was confirmed also. The standard mattress they put in them when you buy a trailer is just a place holder where your new mattress goes Ha Ha Ha....
I wish the awning was about 2' longer but it was nice. I hung out in the rain last night under it and it was nice.
This trailer seems to be perfect for the two of us.
