Maiden Voyage - Starcraft 175RK

We took our Starcraft 175RK (Jayco 17C Twin) on it's maiden voyage this weekend to Dinkey Creek Campground in the Sierra National Forest. Lovely weekend, although it did rain all night Saturday. Had one small leak at the front corner of the AC Unit, will have to have that taken care of, other than that everything worked great. Took notes on things we need to bring next time.

Sounds like you had a good time Tom, even with the one leak. I know what you mean about taking notes on things you'll need, heck I still find myself doing that now and then after 35+ yrs of camping.

Nice pictures too, thanks for sharing 'em with us.

I've been to Dinky Creek! Very pretty! and the water is C-O-L-D! I went with a group of friends back in the 90's. We spent the weekend camping in tents! Your tt looks like it's a lot more comfortable!

Yes, we took our down comforter with us and it was rather nice not sleeping on the ground Heater was nice and warmed up the trailer in no time. Looking forward to our next trip, maybe we'll head over to the central coast, either Pismo or Morro Bay.

That's in CA? We'll have to check that out. Nice pictures and well balanced rig!

Thanks! Dinkey Creek is about 15 miles East of Shaver Lake, which in turn is about 45 miles NE of our house in Fresno. Up the road another 15-20 miles is Wishon and Courtright Reservoirs. Courtright is a favorite place of mine. It is at 8,000 feet so the weather in the summer is a lot nicer than the 100 degree heat in the San Joaquin Valley. The lake is surrounded by large granite outcroppings nd the fishing for rainbow trout is usually good although the mosquitoes can be quite a bother early in the season.

Pismo/Morro are great places. Wish there was more available south of there (Santa Barbara area) which is beautiful. There is a cg in Buellton if you are interested in doing a Danish town atmosphere of Solvang as well as numerous wine tasting opotunities. However, the Buellton cg runs $60+ a nite. You can stay at a regional park in Lompoc for about $15-20 (not sure about current rate).

We have the 17C, 2,011, and love it, but had a big problem after camping on and off for a month and a half. The tent came off the plastic track when my husband tried to close it up. The dealership said they never heard of such a thing. I started a new post about it and hope someone can tell me if that has happened before to anyone. The plastic track had just a few screws without washers holding the tent to it. Does yours look like that?

I'll check it out next time I'm over at the trailer. We have it stored a couple of miles from the house. Are you talking about where it attaches to the trailer at the top or where it attaches on the bottom on the fold down section?

How did you upload such high quality photos. I uploaded a few and max size was 97.7K for a JPG. Camper looks great and what a site.

I do not upload the photos to the forum, I link to photos on my Google Picasa site using the [IMG] tag. You can do that using any number of free photo hosting websites.
