Just brought home our new to us 2012 Swift 19RB, wondering how difficult it would be to install a 30 amp at the house? If we do, then would I be able to run the AC? I would like a place for my daughters college friends to stay when they visit. Also, should we buy a vinyl (material) cover for the roof top AC when not in use? Thank you for all the information we have found here. Less nervous about our learning curve after our first night spent at the dealership camp ground.

Howdy neighbor, what you need is a 30 amp 120 volt outlet ,they sell the electrical box you need at home depot , depending how far from the electrical panel you are ,it will require #10 wire and a 30 amp breaker , i would suggest using licensed electrician good luck

Howdy neighbor again , about a cover for a/c never had used one , have owned several rv no issue with needing one . Just my two.

It should cost about 100 bucks total depending on How much wire you have to buy. I just did my house. Only needed 15 feet of wire. Outlet and box was about 30 at Lowe's. Hardest part and it ain't hard is installing a new 30 amp breaker in your box. Directions will be with the new outlet.

As mentioned above cost is not to bad and install is fairly simple if you have some electrical background. Otherwise get a Licensed Electrican. Explain that you want 110 volt circuit (not 220 V), as soon as someone hears 30 amp they think the higher voltage.
I bought the 10/2 wire & the 30 amp Circuit Breaker at a local Electrical Supply house for 1/2 the cost of HD or Lowes . Covered Electrical box at HD was $43 with prewired 30 amp switch and receptacle.

I just installed one in my dads garage for $100, and that included a extra 25' 30amp rv extension cable ($50). 25' 10/2 wire, 30amp 110v circuit breaker, 30amp rv socket, 2 gang metal box and cover plate. I did not mount the box, just a temporary connection for the weekend.Install only took 20min.

One thing to keep in mind is that you have the room on your maine panel to install a 30 amp breaker that's why it is best to use a license electrician just because you have a spot open disney mean that the amperage coming into the house is up to the task. You could only have 100 amp. Service with a 150amp box. (Ben there done that) on my first house.

I had an electrician come out and install a 50A on the side of my house. Cost about $150, and worth every penny. VERY clean install, looks great and works even better. I love it!

I'm having an electrician come to the house on the 15th - $240 to install an interior 30 amp. Outrageous, but I'm afraid to do the job myself.

That's why I had an electrician do it. I've been electrocuted before, and do not wish to repeat the experience. So if I'm not absolutely comfortable, I call in the pros...

I had an electrician do it during a remodeling project. The 30 A RV receptacle came thru Amazon. Weather proof box 10 ga. wire thru conduit. Had it done right. Only problem, the plug on the TT was shot and caused a high enough draw to burn through one of the wires. Once you make this change over, I can't caution you enough to check the plug and the last foot of your TT wire to see if its getting hot after let say 1/2 hour of operation at your "full" load. You may be a candidate for a new plug end.
