Plastic taste in my water?

We are getting a strong plastic taste in our pipes. I was under the impression that the pipe should not have any affect on the taste of the water so I checked the water straight out of the hose and it tastes fine. I did sanitize the system in April, do I need to do it again already, or should I be looking else where?

The water here in the park does not have any particular taste, we do have a filter we attach the hose that is in place as well, so I am pretty sure it is in the piping of the trailer. Anyone have a guess at what could be going on?

Thanks
Mark

Hmm...sorry - can't help. Ours has been fine. I'd try flushing the system again and see if that helps.

I know when if I don't use a white RV hose to fill my tank--I get a plastic taste. You can try adding baking soda to the tank.

thanks for the replies. I ended up filling the fresh water tank with clean water and 1 gallon of vinegar, running that mixture through the lines and letting it sit over night. I then drained and flushed several times ending with a sanitize. We have always used a quality white hose when filling the tank or when on "city" water as well as using a filter.

Now we taste the water and not the pipes.

Thanks again
Mark

Thanks for posting about your solution to the problem--it may well be a problem that others have faced or will face.

DW and I carry 2, 6 gallon jugs of water from home for drinking water. Our 09 304 still has a plastic taste from the water tank. Its starting to get a little better, but if I heat the water for coffee, I can still taste it. We use the RV water for everything but drinking.

Thanks for posting that solution. We always carry drinking water with us, but now I will know what to do if I ever come across that problem... well done.
