Power converter question

When I plug into shore power, what is it the converter is doing? Is it just charging the battery? also, after I plugged in to shore power, the converter fan ran for a while and then stopped...is that normal? I'm just testing the fridge and that's all I had running at the time.

it is converting the 120 volts down to 12v for the many things that need it

depending on the load the fan will spin at vary speeds..just means it is working as it should

OK, good, Everything is working fine as far as lighting, microwave power, radio, fridge is running...of course I'm not going to test a/c at this time because I'm on 15A household right now...just testing 1 thing at a time. Was just concerned the fan on the converter stopped, but the battery is fully charged and I'm not putting any load on anything other than just running the fridge that I think draws 6A according to the owners manual....
