JUST BOUGHT A WHITEHAWK 28DSBH. WHEN WE WERE LOADING IT THE FRIDGE WOULD NOT COOL. WE HAVE HAD TWO OTHER CAMPERS IN THE SAME PARKING SPOT AND THE FRIDGE WORKED FINE. (DOMETIC) THIS FRIDGE IS A NORCOLD AND MUST BE COMPLETELY LEVEL TO WORK. IS THERE ANYWAY TO FOOL THE FRIDGE INTO WORKING. OUR LAST CAMPER WAS 10 YEARS OLD AND IT NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH BEING LEVEL.
My 6 cu ft Norcold works no matter how out of level it is. If it is not level it actually runs cold. My guess is the refrigerant levels in the system are not at proper charge, which is giving you your issues.
These refrigerators do not work like your house refrigerator. They do not contain "refrigerant" in the normal sense. These are absorption type refrigerators. They contain hydrogen, water and ammonia. There is no compressor. They must be close to level to operate properly. Operating them for an extended time very far off level WILL damage them. If you look in the rear you will find the tubing forms an angled down path for the liquid to follow. These angles are critical for its operation. That is why they must be level.
Does the "chimney" in the rear get hot? It should.

Propane works best. A $20 fan inside does wonders. A $20 fan behind the fridge does even better! Don't over pack it. Pre-cool it overnight. Make sure it's level.

The refrigerator is made to operate within 3 degrees off level side to side and 6 degrees off level front to back.

Actually, that's a pretty good slope. To put that into perspective, I am an airline pilot. When we descend to a lower altitude, we plan to do so at a 3 degree angle. If you were driving 60 mph and descending a 6 degree hill, you would be losing 600 feet per mile. As far as a 3 degrees goes, that's pretty good for front to back!

I have a 2013 Whitehawk and both our driveway and storage lot are on a slope and I have no issues running it on propane without levelling it. My old unit had a Norcold and we never had an issue with it either. The only thing I find is that when it isn't level it takes a little longer to cool downon initial startup so its best to let it cool before filling it.
I was told by a RV repairman thet it was better if your fridge had something in that it would cool down better and faster he recomended to put in a couple of gallom water jugs or put pop or beer in it we have tried it and DW says it works.
