Angry Roof Issues New Whitehawk 27DSRL

We just got our Whitehawk 27DSRL this past Friday the 22nd. We purchased from the owner of a top 50 RV dealer in the country. Started the PDI and went up on the roof and found ripples. The gentleman they had doing the PDI told us 3 times that these ripples were normal. This is our first travel trailer!! The dealer has his own campground and so we stayed 2 nights with the trailer. Unfortunately we wrote the check on Friday and took the trailer down to his campground. Next morning we posted questions concerning the roof on Facebook Jayco Travel Trailer Club and they told us our roof should be smooth. We contacted the dealer and sent pictures and they are to begin the warranty claim with Jayco! I am posting pictures here to and would like your opinion. Right now I want nothing less than a new roof and an inspection to insure there is no water damage prior to a new roof going on and if they have to have the trailer for any length of time a trailer to use for the shoddy way they build their products. Do they inspect a thing at that plant? Here are 2 pics of our roof at 30 hours of ownership! I have more!

Doesn't look pretty, but not a problem that will cause a leak.

There must not be a final quality inspection at Jayco.

A thorough QC inspec is done on about every 10th unit on the line if I remember correctly.

“I want nothing less than a new roof and an inspection to insure there is no water damage prior to a new roof going on and if they have to have the trailer for any length of time a trailer to use.”

Part of what you are requesting is only going to make you more upset then you are. I would be surprised if Jayco or the dealer fulfilled your request. Hopefully they will do what they can to satisfy you.
Personally I don’t believe it will leak. Maybe replacing the roof will make it worse. Does it look good NO but who is going to be looking at the roof, Should this have happened NO. R V quality control for the most part doesn’t exist.

I have been in your shoes and I know how you feel my problem was much worse and Jaycos solution was pure lip service. I am not a fan of Jayco but this forum is a great source of information to help resolve your R V issues.
I do hope you can resolve this to your satisfaction.

That area of the room should be smooth. The only areas that may have a small ripple ,and I mean 1" or so should only be at the corners or down the side. Yours needs to be fixed by jayco under the warrenty. If they say it will stretch out over time and lay down they will be lying. The adhesive is rolled on at the factory and the roof is laid out and stretched out. Hope I have done helped.

I thought the very same thing! This company has been in business for how many decades? This is how they let things leave the factory. On the bright side found out from my dealer today that Jayco has authorized a new roof on my brand new travel trailer that isn't even a week old to me. I wrote a check for about 30G's to be inconvenienced. About time they got out of the dinosaur era and got a QC dept that really does it's job. Too many owners having too many problems with new TT's!

It’s more of a cosmetic issue. We have a few small ripples, nothing close to that size. The membrane is just sitting on the roof deck, it is not glued down, so it will flap/flex a little bit while driving down the road.

Good Luck, don’t let it keep you from using the rig. It could be repaired at the end of the camping season.

We have some small ripples as well...some on our slide. I would not worry about it. I know you want the unit to be perfect, but there is always something. At least the ripples are only cosmetic. I would rather leave the ripples than let the dealer remove the trim, AC, vents, antennas...just to replace a perfectly good membrane and put it all back together. I think you could run into even bigger issues by doing all that.
