Sewer hose storage

I recently purchased a 165BH. First thing I bought was a revolution sewer hose kit from Wal-Mart recommended to me by the dealer. Awesome product and I really like it. However the bayonet style fittings do not fit in the 4" pipe (under bed with outside access) provided for storage. My dad has a 6" pvc pipe bolted to his bumper (40 foot 5th wheel)that he stores his in. Apparently he had the same issue. I see no way to store a pipe that big on my small bumper with a tire mounted to it. Anybody else have any ideas? I'm really not crazy about putting this item inside the living quarters in any type of storage container

I have a perfect solution. We have a 31FS class C and had the same problem with sewer storage. My wife found a great idea on Pinterest. I bought a 4" hallow square PVC fence post, mounted that to my frame, then slid gutter downspout in that can easily pull-out with easy and clean access to your sewer hose. Since the fence post is square, it can fit hose fittings bigger than 4", this prevents you from having to buy a 6" round pipe to accommodate a hose with larger ends (because a 4" square fence post is over 5" from corner to corner. Many of my RV fiends have commented how great it looks and easy it is to access it. Here is a picture below:

I have seen a lot of campers with the 6" pipe mounted underneath the unit. Good choices can be just before or after the axle, or even mounted length wise on the service side of the camper. How about on the tongue? Can you mount the pipe on the a-frame anywhere? Another far more in-depth option would be to replace the 4" pipe with a 6" inside the unit, but that would likely be a lot of work.

I mounted a 5" square PVC fence post below the bumper:



Post was white, just painted it black.

I like the square post ideas. A 6" pipe takes up a lot of space! I might be able to make it work on my rear bumper. Hopefully if I can get off this tug this week and get home I'll give it a shot and post the result.

Rustic Eagle...I just mounted a fence post to my back bumper last night. Now I'm left with another question though...I bought fence caps to put on both ends, however, how are you securing the caps? At first I though using a chain with screws to keep in place, I also thought about hinges. What did you use?

It said to use small bungee cords, but I just bought the bungee ball tie downs (http://www.sportsmansguide.com/produ...-4-pk?a=507698)

I then drilled a hole in the end-cap, fed the bungee cord through, to a hole drilled in the corder of the fence post, and then pulled it tight, and wrapped the extra bungee cord around the outside of the fence post to provide tension. I will try to take a picture and post it tomorrow.

I ran a small size 6" bolt w/wing nut & lock washers thru the post/cap.

Both of those ideas are nice. I already have the bungee ball tie downs even. Post a pic so i can see when you get a moment.

My solution. Had to force the fittings in but they did go in. As for the caps I screwed them on with a couple of stainless screws I had in my shop. I'm curious to see a picture of the the bungee cord setup. Using a screwdriver everytime will get old. But it works for now. Looked into the gutter slide but decided not to do it for now. We'll see how this works, then make a decision about whether or not to do it. I still want to beef up the bumper and put a platform on it to hold coolers and a small tool box

I opt for two heavy duty see through contractor plastic bags and just throw them in the back bed of the pick up. After rinsing the pipe clean after use and again at home and just air dry. Obviously easy and No smells linger. I get a kick out of seeing the face masks and the layers of rubber gloves. I watched a guy for a week clean up after his dog- with nh o issue using a dog hand bag......and then when he unhooked his sewer pipe it was a complete show. I just stared as he kept saying "yuck" over and over again. I'm not saying I am sloppy or that I am eating a candy bar at the time. I wash well and use alcohol too.........and .....Of courses wife doesn't handle it- lol

Thinking of using the fence post idea....Some that are using the fence post idea appear to have drilled drain or vent holes....does this lead to critters, such as wasp, ants, etc wanting in??
