Some questions about the Jay Feather 29L

I posted this question in another thread and decided I should have just started a new one. Sorry about posting it in two places

My husband and I like the looks of the Jay Feather 29L. We plan to start going to some dutch oven gatherings and think we would like the outside kitchen.

Our local dealer does not have this model in stock for us to look at. Can someone please tell me if you can still get to the bathroom if the slide is in? It looks like the slide is shallow enough that you might be able to get down the isle without opening it up.

Also, I can't see any carpet in front of the slide. With two jack russells (that have never learned to wipe their feet) a carpet free camper sounds good but, I have been told by dealers, that you needed carpet for the slide to glide on.

That's the first time I heard of that. I'll wait to see what others have to say and maybe I will learn something here.

I own a 2011 29l and we love it. Yes you can easily get into the bathroom and to the fridge and rear bunk with the slide in and ours is carpet free. We use a small dirt devil vac to clean it in minutes. We just finished a 5000 mile trip and everything worked great.
We really like the outside kitchen.

Thanks Andy. We went to our local Jayco dealer Friday and looked at what they had in stock. They did not have the 29L but said they had some more trailers on the way. We found a couple of floorplans we could live with if they don't get a 29L in before we make a trade.

I agree with andy we also have a 29L an you can get to everything with the slide in, its a little tight but if it just for overnight travel stops its fine, some friends of ours have a keystone, they cant get in there bathroom with the slide in. we've got close to 4000 miles an 40days of camping in ours an its great. The outside kitchen is great if you have kids no more in an out to get drinks or wash hands..no carpet in ours, the slide runs on a couple of rollers up underneath it. We have a couple of throw rugs on the floor an the slide comes in right over them an doesnt touch them at all..

My last RV had a slideout in it and NO CARPET... someone is blowing smoke at you... You will find in most RV's there is lino under the carpet.. its faster to install carpet over the lino than to have to cut the lino...faster=cheaper.

We found it great for stops with our 3 month old daughter to heat up a bottle, room enough to opperate the stove to boil a kettle and whip up a bit of lunch. We looked at alot of trailers and I'd hold out for or order a 29l. I'm very glad they had them when we were looking. I'd also like to add that it tows really nicely very stable. I'm only using a WDH no sway control but my TV is pretty long so that helps. No sway at all even in some very serious weather/severe thunderstorms with high winds and all was well.

Not sure about the newer units as I believe the slides are deeper. On our '06 29N the slide is only about 14" deep and when it is in it's no different than a trailer with no slide. Sure makes it nice when traveling as you can stop anywhere and use the trailer for lunch, restroom, etc. without putting the slide out. We have even stopped for the night and just left the slide in if going to go again first thing in morning.

We have the 29l with the 4 bunks. I would like the outside kitchen but with our 2 kids and each bring a friend the bunks work better for us. We can get in and out pretty easy when we stop.
