sway control ?

I have a question when it comes to sway control arms. I have a 29' TT with a single "friction" type sway control arm. I notice while going down the interstate quite a bit of sway when being passed by other vehicles, especially big rigs. How tight should I tighten my sway control arm?

The "pet peeve" of my tt experience!

We bought the Equalizer system 4 point wdh sway system. The dealer's lot down the street from the factory didn't have it in stock and put in the Huskey -single- bar sway system. Two hours down the interstate, we realized we were going to have to travel 50mph or less to get to Cali from Indiana! We learned from Huskey that with the length of our tt we should have been set up with a DUAL bar! The single bar is for tt's under 24'(?) and so many pounds.

Check with the wdh/sway control company that you have hooked up. See what they say about your current set-up and what you should actually have. Hope this helps

Tighten it as tight as you can with one hand. If you use to much force as with two hands you will wear the pads out sooner.

Thanks for all the reply's. As "rustic eagle" put it, I am getting a tug rather than sway. I will try cranking it down more and if that doesn't do the trick (at least some), I will look to upgrade the sway bar configuration. Thanks!

Chopshop,

If it is in fact just the 'bow wave effect' from passing vehicles and not a sway issue, then try this: When you see a semi coming up from behind, maintain your speed (don't slow down) but move to the right (within your lane) creating a little more distance between you and the passing semi. Semi drivers know about the 'bow wave', and in many cases they will move to their left a little when passing RV's.

The thing is to anticipate that little 'tug', and in most cases you won't have to steer your TV away from the passing semi. If you get caught off guard by a passing semi, maintain your speed and keep your TV/TT traveling in a straight line.

A properly adjusted WDH and adequate sway control will minimize the 'bow wave' effect.
