Taking Delivery Friday - What should we ask and look for?

Hi everyone - we are happy to be taking delivery of our 2014 White Hawk 28DSBH this Friday!

I'm interested in hearing what you suggest that I ask the tech and also what to look for during the walk-through?

This is our 3rd camper (PUP & hybrid before), but this our first "big one".

Thanks!
Derek

Make sure you take notes, the rep may try to breeze through the PDI, tell him/her to take their time. If there is something you don't understand, ask them to repeat. Try everything, stove, furnace, AC, water on city water, water on pump, water heater, every light, every door, nook and crany.

Pretty much my thoughts. Make sure they demonstrate that the water heater functions in both electric and LP gas modes.

It might save you having to drag it back to the dealer 2 weeks later because some idiot in the factory installed the water heater on top of its own gas supply hose. Which in effect chokes off it's own gas supply. Jayco will not admit to we screwed up and reimburse you for your expenses in taking you brand new trailer back to the dealer. But will say its a warranty issue and your S.O.L. for your costs in getting their production error fixed.

Not that I'd know anything about that though.

Welcome to the White Hawk family and the 28ers. We love ours. We are new to the rv camping so no real advice. It is overwhelming but if you have a good dealer like I did they are patient and don't mind you calling, in fact mine always says to call whenever I have questions. They know it's a lot to digest.

Have fun!

Congratulations on your purchase. We just picked our 28DSBH last week. This is our first travel trailer but I have been reading lots of forums and watching lots of youtube videos so the walk through went very well. We have slept in it in the driveway and have been familiarizing ourselves with all the features and mechanicals and plan to do our first real trip this weekend.

Ask for the manuals at the start, then use them as you go along... Take notes

My wife videotaped both of our last walk-throughs. Very helpful for further reference, and when there is a dent or ding that was not noticed during inspection, video will show it. We had our outside ladder replaced on our new Redhawk. Video plainly showed the existing dent and how the ladder was pressed in on that bar. Dealer tried to blow us off unit I sent a copy of the video segment showing the dent to the dealership owner, the salesman, the service manager, and the manager. I included a nice but thorough email with the video. They drop shipped a new ladder to my house and said to take it anywhere I wanted to for installation and they would pay the bill. Worked out great.

Wife video taped the whole thing, husband paid attention to walk through and asked questions.

Congratulations and good luck!

We have a 2014 28DSBH and love it, only been camping 2 times and both were dry camping.
Only had 2 issues. The first time out the refrigerator was not working on propane, there was a flame and no lights blinking but kept getting warm inside. Worked great on electric.
The second issue was the the propane regulator would always stay green, even when the tanks were unhooked and the gas line was drained, un related to the refrgerator issue.
We are 230 miles from the dealer so it was less expensive for me to repair. The regulator was replaced for about $40.00.
The refrigerator issue was a knicked gas hose cause by installation. This can be checked by removing the grill for the furanace and using a flashlight to look at were the gas hose goes into the the base on the refrigerator, see picture (hope it worked).
Second time out had no issues. Hot weather and had our daughter and her family with us (daughter, her husband and 4 boys). Refrigerator worked great.

Hey everyone. Just wanted to say that everything went well. We had a thorough inspection and a really good tech that answered all of our questions. We have a really good local Jayco dealer.

The White Hawk is safely on our driveway, waiting to be loaded up for some summer fun!

Thanks for the help.
