The New 228 is Home (pictures)

Well the trailer is home and I am so pleased with Jayco quality so far. The fit and finish of this trailer is head and shoulders above our Palomino S17 that was a Forest River product. Here are some pictures that I took on the weekend.

Very nice. I sure do like the new graphics and the look of the interior cupboard doors.

Nice tt! What are your plans for a maiden voyage? Did you get to do Camp Driveway when you got it home?

No camp driveway, we are in a pretty suburban area and I would feel a little weird sleeping out there. My wife has to work this weekend which is a long weekend and I would love to be out with the new unit. I am trying to get into a couple campgrounds close to home for the following weekend, if I can't we will probably head out to our friends acreage, camp driveway on a different driveway than my own. This way I can get a nice short tow in and make any little adjustments that I need to my WDH. I think I got it set pretty bang on, right out of the box. I have been watching tv and drinking beer in it on the driveway, does that count?

And yes Locky I love the cupboards as well. So well built.

Those aluminum wheels look sweet. There was a 221 on the lot that were aluminum but we decided to get the 228 instead. That tub surround is nice. Let us know how your first outing goes.

Looking good, I like the tub surround, been waiting all weekend for these pics... I have to live vicariously thru my fellow 228ers until the new girl comes home, should be built this week if the line started on time. No word yet, but I'll keep everyone in the loop. Good luck and keep us up to date on how thing go.

Did you see the pic of the sky light. That was a nice surprise for us. What a difference it makes in the bathroom with all the natural light coming in. I feel for you because I have been doing that for months and I know how hard it is to wait for your trailer. I am going to go home right away and fondle my 228 a little more

I had actually see the skylight in the model at my dealer, it does work well. Enjoy your time with the new camper.

Very nice Jayco 228, congrats! I feel a little gyped on my 228! I only got one 30# propane tank when I see everyone else so far got two tanks. No biggie, just have to buy a different stand and regulator. Good luck on finding a camping spot around here. We tried last week booking at Gull Lake for the long weekend but everything has been booked since March! And the summer basically looks booked for the provincial campgrounds. Might still be space at the privately owned campgrounds. Maybe we will see you around. Ryan

Your not alone Ry-Guy, I also have one 30 pd tank. I'm going to wait and see how far it goes. I've herd many people going a Whole season on one tank.

Are you going on to Alberta reserve a site ? I think you can only book 30 or 60 days in advance so pick your date and work backwards and mark your calendar to get on and book. Cross lake is a nice campground we go there quite a bit and it is usually not too hard to book and it's close for you, a little over an hour. All the provincial campgrounds also leave open sites for first come first serve. Long weekends are usually the only hard ones to book.

Your trailer looks great. I like the new style of skylight. It looks deeper than the style that allows more light. I would like the extra few inches that style might offer. Will have to look into that. Yes if your drinking beer and have the stereo going your camping in my mind, your driveway or Walmarts.

wow i really like your tub surround!! and your skylight looks different and more clear than mine. cant complain too much cause i do have one there and could change it out pretty easy im sure. i have already taken the inside part down and cleaned out the wood particles from it being built.
looks awesome!!!!
i have heated mine for 3 nights (sleeping in it @ home lol) and part of a day and have camped and cooked for 4 weekends worth and used my grill on my camper @ home 3-4 other times and still have not emptied 1 of my 20lbers yet. very glad we have 2 though so we can run her empty without worry. my father in law carries an extra bottle in his truck sometimes if hes worried about running out. that wouldnt be an option for us as we tow with a suv lol.
again your camper looks awesome!!! congrats and glad to see you get her home!!! ENJOY!!!

After seeing your tub surround, may need to be something to look at in the fall to have installed. We were looking to go to Cross Lake towards the end of August. The Alberta Provincial campground reservation site only allows you to book up to 90 days ahead. We will be looking to get in after the long weekend. Ryan
