Tongue Jack fuse

New to us, 23RLSW with electric tongue jack, twice now I've popped fuse when raising. Are there not limit switches to prevent? 2nd time I had to manually start to lower before switch would operate it, don't want to continually fight.

I never had a problem with my tongue jack but it's reported that running the jack to the end of its travel can blow the fuse when the motor stalls. If you run the jack up until it stops on its own that's probably what is causing the fuses to blow. I'd suggest some tape or paint to indicate a stopping point just prior to the end point.

Use a sharpie and mark where too stop. We blew 3 in a row and then laid in a good supply of that fuse!

I have blown 2 fuses while extending my jack apparently to the max. Mine does not have any limit switches. I do have a a placard that states "do not raise past this mark". A good supply of 30 amp fuses is a good idea.

Ditto. 4 fuses blow for me over the 1-1/2 years I've owned it.
The first two fuses pops were the day I brought it home from the dealer.

Thanks for replies, plan is to put some visual mark in effort to avoid in future. Mine has no warning label or mention in owner's manual that I could find, seems like bad design if you ask me.

I carry a 6x6x12 block of wood I place under the jack foot to decrease the length I need to run the jack, and I would imagine it saves on wear and tear as well.

I was going through fuses left and right until I figured this out too.

I was thinking of cutting a foam noodle and fastening it around that post to give me more of a visual of when to stop raising the jack.

I also use 6X6X12 wooden Tongue jack support so I do not have to approach the limit of the travel of the tongue jack to hook up or disconnect.

I changed the fuse to an automatic reset circuit breaker. Still protects the jack motor, but doesn't need replacement.

Good idea. Still a short wait on the reset?

Hadn't thought of that. My fuse location is near Jack itself and dangles free air, is th cb you used in same location with any considerations to weather?

I found one that plugs into the fuse holder. I believe I found it at a NAPA auto parts store. Mine is located next to the battery terminal, so it is covered by the battery box cover. The wait for a reset is short enough that I don't notice it.
