Just saying.
I definitely go with 1 and 5 above. Gotta add WD40 to the tool list, though. (NOT for drinking!!!)

I carry a small tool box of camper specific stuff, a step tool box, my regular tool box in my truck, and a small bed box with larger items. Even with pushing max weight, would not drop any of them. But if I had to pick 5 most used.

Multi-bit screwdriver
Crescent wrench
Gerber multi-tool
3lb hand sledge
LED headlamp

I forgot one. First aid kit. We get the ones off of the drilling rigs which are quite a bit more involved than what you get at most places. They have been used quite a bit due to kids, and me of course.

I am afraid to go 2 miles without a complete set of tools, so I have all kinds of tools with me all the time.
But I thought about this a bit and came up with this:
What tools do I use every time I camp? A camp axe. It's a hammer and an axe and very sharp. I use it to drive in stakes and make stakes when I can't find one. It's a camping tool. Next is a flashlight. Next is a Leatherman wave. IMHO this is a right of passage tool for a man. Not saying you are a boy if you don't wear one of these everywhere you go, but just saying......

What other tools do I use most times I camp? Refer to above.

I've seen the Leatherman Wave mentioned in a couple of posts now. While familiar with the Leatherman name, I had never had a proper introduction to the Wave name until very recently. While shopping at Bass Pro Shops in Utica NY last weekend, my 20 yr old son walked up to me with a black one in his hand and stars in his eyes. Since I had already laid down a good chunk of money for a couple of Glock pistols for the Mrs and I over at the gun counter and now had a new Columbia coat for the daughter in our basket I just let him toss it into the mix for dear old dad to pay for. At checkout I learned it's value when the thing scanned through at just under a Benjamin. I have to be honest, I haven't seen it since as he quickly squirreled it away for purposes unknown. He did, however, mention to me after checkout that his girlfriend had already purchased the camo version of the Wave for him for Christmas for him to have and use on drill weekends (National Guard). You read that right...the scammer got 2 of them for free! Sadly, I still haven't laid eyes on one for more than a moment or two.

Important to manage your tool kid and be honest with yourself about what it will be used for. Unless you expect to replace the ball joints in your TV or spot weld something onto the frame while traveling, just take the basics and look for multi use tools. Examples are the multi screw drivers with nut driver and large small driver heads in both reg and philups. A couple good cresent wrenches small and medium. multi electric tester, you get the picture. Its the stuff you'll need to tighten stuff, replace a broken hinge or repair a loose electrical connection.

Just went thru my tool box [last time was 2 years ago] and sorted to make sure I had all the smaller size sae and metric wrenches up to 9/16, amazing how things duplicate and also walk away over time. Black tape, G-tape, a small socket set, etc. Not worried about weight but more that I can find what I need without digging thru 3 1/2" wrenches, 6 screwdrivers, and 2 hammers.

I always have a small 12v compressor, a set of jump cables or jump box, and a battery charger. You will end up with more than you can fit after a few trips out. Things get added and rarely purged. The occasional spring cleaning or pre major trip cleanout is a useful thing. Even if you don't purge much, it reminds you what you have and where it is.

I don't think I could limit myself to 5 tools.
I have a craftsman set with sockets, wrenches and screwdriver bits.
Another socket set.
Adjustable wrench.
Channel locks.
Multi meter
Claw Hammer
18v cordless drill and light with charger and socket for stabilizers
3 ton floor jack
Needlenose pliers
Lineman's pliers
Always a few good knives, folding and otherwise
4 way lug wrench
Elec tape and duct tape
wd40
2-9mm with extra magazines for each

It's not all in front of me right now so I'm sure I forgot something.

I like a lot of your list, but the last item is a bit surprising. Depending on where you travel, that can get you in a boatload of trouble - especially in crazy places like New York and New Jersey. Alas, unless I'm staying entirely in PA, I've decided that my own similar items are staying behind.

I can think of no reason I'd ever want to go to New Jersey or New York.

My permits are good everywhere I go.
