TT Cover

We are brand new to travel trailers and we're learning as we go. I was about to buy a tarp today to cover the TT. I'm at the store reading the info on the packaging and it says, "if you are going to use this tarp to cover a vehicle keep it 2 inches away from the vehicle". Huh? So much for that idea.

So my question is this, Classic Accessories has a cover called the PolyPro1 on its web site for $187.00. Walmart is selling the same one for $129.00. Is this an acceptable cover or should I be looking at something else?

Also, do you keep something like Damp Rid in yours when you aren't using it?

I use a ADCO cover on mine. I also use DriZair. During winter storage. I check it once a week to empty the water.

The current issue of Trailer Life magazine has an excellent article about RV covers. I never used one while living in the Midwest, and never had any problems. Humidity was never an issue either. I had our TT stored nearby and left the vent open just a crack.

I wouldn't say a cover is necessary, but a cover tailored to your specific area (whatever that might be) is probably a good idea. ... from the article mentioned above: most cover manufacturers have 3 grades. If it doesn't breathe, they're worse than no cover at all. Good luck.

Covers are the "fish oil" of the RV industry. They usually do more damage than they prevent.. I would give it a pass.

Sorry but I must disagree with this statement. We have used a cover on our last two TT with great results. It save your decals from fading and cracking also its nice to uncover your TT in tne spring and have it just as clean as it was when put away for the winter.

Depends on what you want the cover for. I have seen first hand where an ADCO breathable cover got so hot underneath in our sunny CA climate that it cause decals to start to lift.

The actual temp wasn't measured on the one that happened to my neighbor, but I have read online where 90*-100* days result in 150*-200* temps under the cover. Basically the cover cooks the RV on warm days.

So IMO, if you want to cover to keep the hot sun off the RV you would be better to find another option. If this is a winter time cover to help with snow/rain/ice then I think a cover probably isn't a bad idea.

My though was to keep it cooler inside, guess that's wrong. And to protect the finish, wrong too. We live in South Carolina where heat is second nature. The good news is we will probably use it some all year around as we have children (and soon, grandchildren) in Florida.
