Vacuum breaker issue

On my 28DSBH, while flushing my black water tank I didn't hear the normal soon flushing sound and very soon had water running across the bathroom floor. After realizing it wasn't sewer water, I soon discovered when looking at the inlet of the sewer flush that the vacuum breaker was flooding water out.

First, it would seem like this "relief" valve would be better suited outside.... Second, does anyone know if it is a failure of the valve or is it possible a sewer is clogged causing the valve to release?

I don't typically do anything with this in the winterization process; however, a friend told me I probably should. I have been through 3 Chicagoland Winters with no problem. Is it house blowing out the line? I drain everything reach fall and refill with antifreeze but I don't normally do the sewer flusher.

Last, what is the more reliable brand to replace it with. The one that dissed me is a B&B

Those valves are junk. There have been several threads on them recently, and I post the same response every time; get rig of it and use an inline vacuum breaker at the inlet. The stock vacuum breakers are famous for leaking, and causing much damage, no matter what the make or model. The are usually installed at or above toilet lid level, and in a bad location for water intrusion. Cut the thing out, join the pex, get a designated hose, and use a good inline vacuum breaker purchased from one of the big box stores like lowes. I can't tell you how many I've deleted over the years. It's one of the every first things I do with a new rig since I've had them put water in bathrooms, in walls behind a TV, in basements etc.

My dealer told me that these fail so often that they keep a bunch in stock; that way they're ready with replacements. Don't know the details, but apparently there are better ones available, too. The one that came with my 2016 23RLSW leaked from day one, and had to be replaced. So far the replacement has been just fine.

So you just place a double male coupling in line inside the TT and then attach the external vacuum breaker between TT connection and hose?

Honestly, I have not found the flusher to work real great, ever.

I've always used pex fittings and crimps and did away with everything.

Mine started leaking last week in my 2016 Pinnacle. I am guessing it is behind my shower wall and the towel closet. Not sure exactly how they expect you to be able to get into it as that cabinet opening is only like 10" wide. I will be looking this weekend as I hate having things that aren't 100% what hey are supposed to be

Had a similar situation in 2007. Had to remove a tv and wall panel to get to it. Had soaked inside of wall and down into basement. That sealed the deal for me.

Get it out, use an inline at the intake, use a designated hose (unless your system is hard piped).

In cases like yours, you can likely find the 2 lines in the basement (one headed up in the wall, one coming down). In my fifth wheels you could. I cut and connected the lines in the basement getting rid of about 6-8' of line in the process.
