water coming in ...again

Guys I need your help on this one. We are getting our feet wet since we bought the trailer last years. We tought that we have found from where the water was coming in but ....no.

Tonight we had some rain nothing exceptional but once again the floor under the silde out and the furnace is getting wet, the water doesnt seems to come from the slide out seal though.

I could trace a puddle of water that seems to be fed by a water leaks that is coming from the joint between the wall and the floor !!!!

So can you tell me how the wall is put on the floor, like it is mounted on a seal, on some sort of caulking or ???

I am kind of tired of this never ending leak. I am confident that my dealership with whom I have a great relationship will look and hopefully find the leak but I will not keep this aquarium for very long if they cant find the problem.....

What we're looking at is the outside wall and floor in the slide? Is there a window above the leak? I've had a window leak due to a sloppy install. The water could be getting in around a window and draining out the bottom of the wall. A roof leak on the slide is also a possibility. I doubt the water is coming in under the wall directly from the outside. After things have dried out try spraying various areas with the hose. Be patient, it may take time for the water to percolate its way down.

Is there diamond plate on the lower front? I'd re-caulk the seam at the top of the diamond plate.

We are not looking under the slide out but a few feet in front of it. The water is not running down on the inside panel wall, neither from a window or any kind of opening that i could see.

I lean onthe floor as soon as the rain started and it took awhile to see the water coming in, but when it happenned the water was clearly coming from the seam at the floor and the wall

Is it possible that the water is coming in at a leak in the roof and running down between the inside wall and the siding then running out at the floor?. Happened to me a couple of times. Sometimes you don't even know it's happening until the inside wall starts to rot at the bottom.

Cant say its impossible but i doubt it is since its a laminated fiberglass wall ( whitehawk) so for the water to run within that sandwich ?.. but hey with water you never know....

Wish I could be more help. Remember water flows down hill. If the tt is still parked where/when the water entered. I would take a level, check closely the slopes of the tt. Then work your way back, to a potential leak. I would look up high. Someone recently noted they found an issue on the roof, they could only find it being up there on their hands and knees and looking over the edge. Standing on the roof or the ground they could not the see the gap. If I recall it gap was at the topside of the gutter.

Thanks to all, so far i could constantly reproduce a leak, it is coming from the furnace exaust vent. However could not reproduce what looks like an infiltration a the junction of the floor and the wall. Thanks to all so far for your suggestion

Got it !!! I found the leaks, I couldnt wait for the dealership....Im a stubborn french canadian hey !!! at the end 3 leaks
1- Slide out vertical moulding. Leaks was at the very bottom but also in 2 locations...at the bottom corner and 2 wood screw from the botton up...these 2 where hard to figure. The water was going in around the screw head and was leaking through the wall ( inside the wall through the so called vaccum bonded wall ) ) to finish on the floor under the slide out.

2-One leaks was coming from the heater vent...not sure what can be done there, maybe a bug screen might help ?

3- The third leak will be hard to stop, its just a few drop of water coming down by the vertical seal again but normally the water should be directed into the channel at the bottom of the seal on the slide out...the problem is that the drops dont know that and they are taking another route leading thm to the floor...anyway I am really proud of myself, thanks God I dont mind to work for free for Jayco.....

I have had a similar problem and didn't discover it until the end of last season when temps were already below freezing. So this is on my to-do list first thing once its warm enough to start caulking.

We have a small slide on our unit which only houses the jack-knife sofa. When looking behind the sofa I noticed that the plywood floor has water stains on it. During our last trip of the year we got a huge downpour and I finally saw water ponding on the floor behind the sofa. It was not coming from the windows or down the walls, etc.

After a detailed inspection of the exterior of the slide I realized that water was actually being wicked in around the bottom of the slide at the corners. Caulking in those locations was visibly lacking. So essentially water would run down the slide during a downpour and then be drawn into the slide at the floor-wall corners by capillary action.

I would strongly advise everyone to have a real good look behind the furniture in their slide outs to see if there is any signs of previous water intrusion and then very thoroughly inspect the bottom of the slides, particularly the corners where everything joins together. Mine if going to get slathered in caulking on the first warm day of the year.

I had the same problem and it turned out to be the top seal on the storage hatch closest to the leak. Incorrectly installed by the factory.

This might be a long shot but I had water coming in my furnace vent which is located directly under the fridge. I believe it was due to the drip tray behind the fridge overflowing. I have since rerouted the line that brings water into the drip tray so that it goes out the vent and drips water on the ground outside of the trailer. I haven't had any issues with it since. If you are only finding water at the furnace vent when there is a downpour then this probably isn't what is causing your leak but thought it was worth mentioning just in case.
