What are these freshwater valves beside my furnace for?

2007 Jay Feather ultralight 254exp: When I turn the right one open while on city water I get water out my freshwater holding tank overflow, but the left one seems to do nothing. No info in the manual, no labels on the trailer and extensive Google search returns nothing. TIA,
Dan

My best guess is those are your low point drains.

Thanks WyEm,
As far as I know, my only freshwater tank low point drain is open on one side and is located on the exterior of the trailer. The one valve on the right seems to allow city water access my freshwater holding tank so I suspect these might have something to do with filling my tank via city water rather than gravity hookup. Good suggestion though, thanks.

Those appear to be your low point drains They are either push pull valves Try pushing down on the one that is letting water flow

Thanks bedrck46,
They are T-valves that twist to open and they are inside the trailer at a point higher than the freshwater holding tank, so would not function as a low point drain. My low point drain is easy to find and is on the exterior of my trailer. Unless I am missing something, being relatively new to the travel trailer world this is entirely possible, I don't think these are low point drains. Thanks for the idea though.

Your fresh water tank will have its own drain And unless you are filling the fresh water tank there should be no overflow happening Unless you can fill the FW tank from the inside which I doubt. Try pushing down or pulling up on those valves

They do not push/pull to activate, they twist. It is when I twist the right one when on city water that I get water flow out my fresh water tank overflow, despite it being empty and not filling up.

They might be a freshwater tank bypass for winterizing?

Is you hot water system working

I just looked at my setup and I have valves similar to yours and they are twist valves not push pull They are for draining the water in the fresh water lines for winterizing one is for the cold water system and one for the hot water system.

Look on the outside of the RV near where those lines exit thru the floor and see if there is a decal that says low point drain

The low point drain decal is almost at the back corner of the trailer about 10' aft of these valves and right at my low point drain. No decals or stickers near where these valves are located Edith er inside or outside the trailer. I can't track the lines outside the trailer very easily as they exit the trailer above a waste water holding tank. I will try opening my low point drain with these valves in both positions and see if it opens the cold/hot lines up to drain. I was able to drain the system in the fall prior to learning about these valves.

Oh, and yes... Hot water system is working fine, my hot water tank bypass valves are on my hot water tank in a separate part of the trailer.

Is it possible for you to look behind the panel and see what those lines connect to

I think you will find they connect to the main water lines through the trailer. At least that is how they are on my trailer

Your FW tank does have an overflow but there should not be any valve in the overflow line

OK they are the low point drains for the water system When the valves are open you will have flow Cold water on one and hot water on the other. Also they should be closed in normal operation You only need to open them when you drain the system in the winter.

So what purpose do they serve? Open allows hot and cold water pipes access to my low point drain and closed prevents back flow?

They are the low point drains for the PRESSURE side of your plumbing system. The low point drain on the FW tank is for NON-PRESSURE side of the system. Your pump will prevent the pressure side from draining back through the FW tank. Open them in the fall to drain fresh water out of the pressure system as the first step of your winterizing process.

AS they are called Low point drains They are used to help completely drain the water lines. When I winterize I will open them and I first blow out the system to remove as much water as possible. I normally don't use RV antifreeze in my lines but most people do use the pink stuff. If I blow out my lines I will leave the valves open But if I use the antifreeze I will close them and then add antifreeze

Check and you may also find a set of valve near the bathroom sink

Do you have the owners manual for the RV although they are generic they do have some good information in them

My low point drains are twist valves too, and that is almost certainly what those are on yours. They aren't for draining the tank, but for draining the water lines in the trailer.

Thanks . That makes sense. I have the owners manual and read through it thoroughly prior to asking on the forums, but as many of those manuals are... it was very generic and of no help. I also checked through a few other manuals and several forum posts but couldn't defined anything... It was time to turn to you guys for help! Much appreciate everyone's time .

X2, low point drains for the water piping, one for each the Hot and Cold water lines. Not the FW tank, it has its own low point drain under the TT, probably behind the rear tire on the driver's side.

To confirm this, I would recommend contacting Jayco with your VIN number, and ask for the plumbing schematic.
