White Hawk locked by itself
I'm stuck outside right now because my door locked by itself. The keys are inside the camper. Ok right now I'm pi$$ed. We came home rather late. Unlocked the door. Went inside for a minute and came back out. When I slammed the door behind me, the lock caught and I'm sitting on a picnic table at midnight waiting on a locksmith before my husband does damage to this thing to get inside.
The camper key is laying right beside the door.
I have no idea what the solution is and right now I want to sleep in my bed and not on the picnic table.
Should we have foreseen that the doors and locks are so crappy that we need to keep an extra set on the outside at all times???

Hope you got in ok.... Too bad it isn't like the good ol' days where you could get in through your forward storage compartments under the queen bed. Those locks are a bit easier to deal with.

We leave a key hidden and secured under the camper for potential lockouts. I remember when I was little crawling (or getting shoved) thru the storage areas to get inside and unlock the door of my parents old 70-something Terry many time out at the CG.

sorry to hear of your misfortune, but your experience just caused me to get 1 of our 2 sets of keys and put it in the TV, just in case!

Had the same thing happen to me a few weeks back on my 23m. Came back from the beach with family threw the keys inside on the counter top turned on the air, walked out side shut the door only to find a few moments later the door was locked with the keys locked inside. Fortunately I installed a lock box with the aft door key in the fridge access panel area !!! Still had that sinking feeling when I realized it. Makes no sense why these locks would lock themselves after turning the key to open. I assume we have the same style door locks

I had the bathroom door lock on its own. I was able to open it but now think I have to keep a couple of tools to get back in if it happens again. If the outside door locks that's a different matter. Probably would force an entry thru the storage compartment into the bedroom. That shouldn't be too hard to do.

We always leave the second set of keys in our TV. Never been locked out yet, but I have always been paranoid about it.

White Hawk locked by itself
So, I did this today except I have 2 doors and the main was unlocked. But it was my own fault. I unlocked the main door, went inside, turned the deadbolt, opened the door went outside and shut the door, and then found it locked. Apparently, I had locked both locks the last time I was in it and you can only unlock that one with the key. So if you use the top lock, which I usually don't make sure you leave it unlocked.

We had a similar thing happen with our Montana. Fortunately my wife was able to get in through the trap door and get things unlocked. From that day on we had an extra key stashed because we would always leave the bathroom door open over the laundry shoot "trap door". Getting in was just too easy. I hope you get in with out freezing on the picnic table.

Hmm.... My spare key set is in a safe place.... 600 miles away in my wife's purse. I don't leave keys for anything laying anywhere, except in my pocket.
After reading this, I will get a couple more door keys cut.

Glad to know it's not just us! We think that you are able to take the key out of the lock while it's still in the "locked" position. Hence, if you unlock your doors and hang the key up inside, the next time you go out, it's locked. We are definitely getting another set of keys made. By the way, it was $120 to have the locksmith drive 30+ miles on a Saturday night.
