Whitehawk vent covers

Has anyone been able to install a vent cover ( i.e. maxxair ) over their vent in the bathroom on the 28DSBH whitehawk?

My dealer says it can't be done. Black tank air vent is to close to the bathroom air vent to fit properly. Any ideas?

I had the same problem on another Jayco. I removed the vent cap to get to the vent pipe. Bought a PVC collar and a piece of PVC pipe long enough to put the vent above the Maxair.

How close is the bathroom vent to the stack? I had an issue with mine when I installed the Maxx Air II over the bathroom vent. I had to use my angle drill to drill one of the 3/16" hole that I needed. Overall it was very simple to do. Now that being said, it was also tight on the inside due to the position of the fan motor mount on the housing. I left the vent open during a rainfall and the Max Air kept hte rain out!

The vent pipe is about 2 inches from the bathroom vent cover....

Wow...is the vent stack centered to the bathroom vent? There is a chance the Maxx air cover might fit the mounting brackets are about 2" long

I was just over on the Maxx Air II website and it showed the width of the Maxx Air vent cover at 20 1/4" measure the width of your existing vent and subtract it from 20 1/4" and divide by 2. that should give you the measurement that you will need between the stack and your bathroom vent in order to fit the maxx Air II vent cover as long vent stack doesn't interfer with the drilling of the required holes. If this figure exceeds the distance beween the stack and your existing vent then it will not fit. I hope that that makes sense?

Thanks for the info.... I'll take a look this weekend. How's the new trailer? Are you getting out much?

Cheers

I installed the camping world version of the Maxair 2s over the fan in the bathroom. There was just enough room for it to fit. I got the smoke colored ones and am happy that they fit on the roof and had clearance for the fan.

When measuring the vent, measure the frame portion not the plastic cover

Just in case anyone at some point tries this on a 31DSLB, you have clear access. I installed a Max Air 2 without any issues at all. In fact the vents are quite far away...Good luck.

I saw another Whitehawk 28dsbh today and it had a max vent cover on it.... so maybe there is a way to make one fit.

I had this cover on my x23J which the vent and stack were very close together. It just fit.

I took it off b4 trade in with hopes of putting it on our new 28DSBH. I looked at the roof of the showroom model and it looks about the same clearance, so I hope to be able to use it. Has anyone had luck yet? We don't take delivery until March/April so I have to wait.

I just wanted to update this thread because I met the above poster today in the campground. He's got a 2013 28dsbh like I do but his is a few months older. He saw the max air vent I installed and was curious.

The smaller max air vent does indeed fit on my 28 dsbh even with the black tank vent located close to it. It really wasn't a problem at all.

One thing to keep in mind though is that while we both have the same year and model trailer, they are slightly different. He doesn't have the swivel TV and doesn't have the round corners of the entertainment center. With that said, I wonder if the black tank vent is a little closer to the bathroom vent making the max air vent not viable.

I'll be picking up a Fantastic ultrabreeze vent cover next weekend. We had the dealer install a fantastic breeze 2 way high speed fan when we bought the trailer. Keeps the trailer nice and cool whithout having the main fan system on. Now they have a cover for their own product. So I'll give it a try. Have it on hold at camperworld for next weekend. Hope it fits.

My dealer installed on for us before we picked it up. Looks like it fit fine.
