Safety people tell you to turn off the propane before driving.. a fridge will hold the cold for up to 6 hours. IF you do travel with the propane on make sure you shut it off before you fuel up.. you don't want the pilot light coming on while you are in there with all the fuel fumes...
My take on not shutting off your propane appliances before you approach
a fueling station is that in keeping them on you are most likely violating local fire regulations/ordinance/laws. Remember that others may be fueling as you approach. You are not the only customer.

Research the local codes. Anywhere that the IFC is adopted by local jurisdictions then those who exercise the right of preference to keep propane refrigeration operating during a fueling operation are in violation of local ordinance (laws).
